Why do so many think the media is leftist? I read widely. I don't watch TV (don't even have one). I have seen a few pathetic leftovers from the Movements of the late 60's and early 70's that are leftist-leaning. I see one huge network perched on the radical fringe of the right. Most everyone else is in the center, but without much testosterone. If Nixon had done half the things Bush has done, the media outrage would have canceled his first name, stunted his grass and repossessed his dog. So where does this "leftist media" charge come from. As I see it, the media still mainly focuses on facts, with the exceptions of a few weak left-leaning publications and FOX network which is definitely slanted to the Right in a big way and perhaps economical with the truth. But even though they focus on facts, they do so in a cowardly fashion. You know, there are transcripts and video clips on the internet. Simple enough. Also I have a friend who is always inviting me over to watch Rush Limbaugh with him, and I am polite to him when I don't have a good excuse. eric k: Twice as many negative stories on one candidate or slate just means there is more there that is juicy. The aim of the media is to be sensational whenever possible., to draw readers/viewers from their competition. What I learned in my brief career as a politician is that negative stories are fine as long as they spell my name right. getting my name in front of the voters was THE objective. Hi there zorak: There are two interpretations to "Candidate X has it in the bag." I never wanted to be X. I had to be the underdog who would win if he got your support. Saying X has it in the bag may reduce the poll support for X more than for his opponent. Of course it is still irresponsible journalism, backed by a lot of polling data, to call an election before it is over.
