How can I tell if "Caffeine" in aspirin / Advil / Tylenol? I took some sinus asprin ... and I'm wired ... I read the bottle, but didn't see "Caffeine" ... is there another name for caffeine, or another ingrediant I should avoid when taking medication late at night?

neurogrrl replied: "I detect a pattern here...there is no other name for caffeine but related compounds are theophylline and theobromine. In addition, look out for pseudoephedrine. You don't have to take "sinus" aspirin, just take aspirin. Now that I think about it, you probably did take pseudoephedrine, which is a decongestant."

Lady Celestial replied: "read the label"

How many tylenol 325mg c/codeine 8mg and caffeine 15mg can I take? I have very bad back problems and usually take 2 percecets for pain per my doctor at 5/500 mg a pill, I am out and can't get a refill till tomorrow. How many will sort of equal the amount of the perc's without hurting myself?

shafqatali38 replied: "cosnult onlin doctor"

honey replied: "i would only take one pill. watch out for taking codeine with caffeine - it makes for bizarre adverse affects for most people."

Mary & Mike replied: "You really only need one; depending on your age and body weight. Two if the age is appropriate and the pain is excruciating. If that doesn't work see the doctor."

dana s replied: "i gram of tylenol is ok for adults and 15-16 mg of codeine is the norm for codeine...you should be ok with 2 pills"

John de Witt replied: "If you're a large adult without other medical problems, you might in theory take as many as four at a time for a single day (though prolonged use at that dose would be toxic). It won't, however, be equivalent to your Percocet."

Elisabeta Disupremo replied: "Call in to work and take the tylenol codeine only as per the instructions on the bottle, if trying to stay awake is your reason for caffeine pills. Is the tylenol perscribed to you? Even if you live in Canada where I believe you can get the Tylenol 3 over the counter, there may interactions from the percecet left in your fat cells, don't risk it unless there is no alternative. Hot pad, warm bath with epsom salts and all that until you get your regular meds. If ran out before your prescription allowed for a refill you need to take to your doc as well, the pain management needs to be reviewed."

BEPR replied: "Always talk with a pharmacist or your doctor before self-medicating. Most pharmacies will be happy to answer your questions, whether or not that is the place where you got your medication. You can either call them or visit. Make sure you let them know about any other medications that you are taking!"

Lisa R replied: "It won't equal the amount of Percocet, because Percs are stronger. You can safely take 3 Tylenol every 4 hours. It really won't work as well, but try it and see how it works for you. Good luck :)"

Caffeine + Tylenol? Okay, tonight I was planning on a good old fashioned halo bender. I consumed about 750 mg of caffeine and out of nowhere I get called in for work the next day. There was no way I was going to fall asleep so I hit up the medicine cabinet and took 6 Tylenol cause they make me drowsy. I took six cause I'm a big guy. About ten minutes ago I find that they are extra strength. I seriously feel like a complete idiot asking this. Am I screwed? I take anti depressants as well. That's a lot for the liver to metabolize. I also gagged myself til my stomach was empty, but can 3 grams kill a 200 pound man?

max r replied: "your screwed"

Brandi replied: "No I am pretty sure you will be fine. You should however, drink some milk to help soothe your throat tissues. The acids from your stomach are very harsh and inducing vomiting is an awful thing to do to your throat. Try drinking a hot cup of Sleepy Time tea. It has soothing herbs in it to help you relax and fall asleep. As for the medication issue, if you are really concerned about the combo call poison control (listed in the front of your phone book where the emerg numbs are) and tell them what you have consumed and what you did to try to remedy the problem. You will feel stupid telling them too, but they aren't ever gonna meet you, so no big deal. They will let you know what you should do from there. Be sure you tell them about ALL meds taken in the past 24 hrs because some things do not pass thru your system as quickly as others. Good luck!"

Does Tylenol have caffeine in it?!? okay so i was in a car crash today and im in a lot of pain so i took 2 500mg tylenols(as directed) and was planning on sleeping but i now feel more awake...and i think i heard somewhere that it has caffeine in it....is this true and how long will it take b4 i can sleep?

Dogbert1 replied: "No, it doesn't but be careful of Tylenol, it can really be damaging to your liver! When it runs out try Ibuprofen instead or call your doctor about an alternative. You can usually take 600-800 mg of Ibu and still be safe. (for extreme pain only)"

TallulahsMama replied: "Regular over the counter Tylenol does not have any caffeine in it. However other Tylenols which require a prescription do. Check out the link below on Tylenol."

Felicia replied: "No it doesnt it would say it on the bottle!"

Georgie replied: "No over the counter Tylenol does not have caffeine in it, the active ingredient in Tylenol is Acetaminophen, however there is precautions with using as there is with any drug. Prescription Tylenol with Codeine, does not have caffeine in it either, but it does have Codeine in it, which is why it is a prescription drug. Tylenol ultra does have caffeine in it"

Re: headaches, not migraines. Any ideas how to relieve them? Tried caffeine, Tylenol, Advil. Appreciate it!? They started about 2 weeks ago when I was turned down for a job. Sometimes it goes away for part of a day & then comes back. I do get a little relief if I have a bite to eat. Hi! I think I've figured out these headaches. I believe they are a side effect of a new Rx I started a couple weeks ago. Funny the headaches started about same time. Will not take med tomorrow & see how it goes. Thank you for your answers. BTW, finally got some relief when I took 3 Advil (600mgs)

Mrs. Josh replied: "I use exedrin tension headache and it works great for me."

jackjacoman replied: "drink lots of water, you are probably dehydrated."

How many days will it take to get over caffeine headaches? it's day 3 without any coffee and i have a horrible headache. my reason for quiting is b/c i am pregnant and have morning sickness and have gone off my morning coffee.i know it's better for the baby to be caffeine free anyway. tylenol doesn't work nor does water, wondering how long i should expect this to last. should i just have a coffee or should i carry on with this?

DnBprincess850 replied: "The caffeine is not going to hurt your baby. I craved Coffee while I was pregnant. I was drinking Venti Espresso's no cream no sugar, just straight, I drank like 10 a day, and my child is fine, she's actually really chill, and well behaved. Best baby I have ever dealt with. I'd say have a coffee. Decaf wont help, so don't drink it."

lindsey4706 replied: "Personally as someone that has expierienced caffeine withdrawl headaches I would recomend trying to ween yourself off the caffeine instead of just quiting cold turkey. You could try cutting down your amount by like a quarter every few days. Should help with the headaches. You could also try mixing in decaf. Good luck. 31 weeks pregnant myself."

flmomfl replied: "I feel for you! Those headaches are a drag. They will go away in acouple more days though. It does take awhile. When I was prego I totally went off caffeine. It can be done!! :) Just keep drinking water so you don't get dehydrated. To curve the pain, maybe have a small bit of chocolate..."

081 replied: "Actually, it's perfectly safe to consume limited amounts of caffeine and has been proven to help with pregnancy sickness. You should consume no more than one 20oz bottle of a caffeinated beverage OR two cups of coffee per day. (not both!) If you're still wanting to stick it out and just cut the caffeine all together, it can take some people, though not all, up to 2 weeks to be completely free of "detox headaches." During this time, make sure to consume even more water than usual as water is a natural and healthy way to prevent and get rid of headaches. Congrats and I wish you the very, very best!! PS: You can also try consuming decaf coffee because even though it is supposedly free of caffeine, in all actuality it has been proven not to be true. However, the levels of caffeine are of no comparison to the amounts found in standard coffee. So even though you'd be taking in far less caffeine, you'd still be consuming just a little bit, perhaps enough to help your headaches."

Does Tylenol #3 have caffeine in it? I am finding different results when searching the Internet. Many sites say it DOES, and many sites say it DOES NOT. I am in the USA.

isaac2007 replied: "NO! tylenol 3 has CODEINE. it is a muscle relaxer. good times..."

fretochose replied: "no codeine and acetaminophen only"

brad w replied: "You are HOTT!!! but no it doesn't EDIT: you're still hott! but in canada tylenol #3 (codeine) doesn't require a prescription (although a doctor can certainly prescribe it, just like he can prescribe a sling, which you don't NEED a prescription for), so I think they put caffeine in it to offset it's narcotic sleep inducing effect, so people don't abuse it. In the US you need a prescription so there's little chance of abuse."

Natalie G replied: "My prescription does contain caffeine along with the codeine and tylenol. I'm in Canada so maybe it is different in USA."

is it bad to take caffeine with advil? I recently heard it is bad for your liver to take caffeine and Advil in the same day. Then, someone else told me it is hard on your stomach to take caffeine and acetaminophen (Tylenol) . anyone know whats up?

shekillsangels replied: "Caffeine actually helps tylenol/advil work. :)"
