where can you buy wake-up caffeine pills in toronto? the store i used to buy them at no longer supplies them..... :(

duck_fook2000 replied: "yes you can"

Tracy M replied: "Try Shoppers Drug Mart. I remember seeing them there...they have the drawing of a rooster on the package."

How do you wake yourself up without caffeine and for free or cheap? I just want to beat a friend in a contest we always do to see who can stay up the longest. The rules are: 1. You can use anything BESIDES caffeine or sugar. 2. You cant take any pills. 3. If you fall asleep before 24 hours pass the winner cant pull the worst prank they can think of. I haven't won yet and his pranks are BAD can anyone help?

Why do caffeine pills give me an odd wake? when im tired and i have to do work and i take a caffeine pill to stay awake, i always feel weird, like im not properly awake, it feels like the caffeine is just forcing me to be awake and i cant concentrate properly, anyone know why this is?

AdCh replied: "well technically you are being forced awake. maybe those pills aren't that good and you should try something else?"

Jeff of the 140 IQ ;-) replied: "That's because your body is trying to shut down for rest, relaxation and repairs, and you are chemically overriding its natural urges. And caffeine pills are concentrated, each one the equivalent of two cups of coffee. So taking a pair of them is like drinking 4 cups of coffee in the span of 2 seconds - without the liquid diluting it. Psuedoephedrine will do the same thing. Basically, your body is revving up while your mind is still saying "time for shut down.""

Rj B replied: ""Jeff" is right. Perhaps it would help you if you shut the curtains/blinds and put on some bright lights. This may be able to "confuse" your circadian cycle enough to trick your mind into believing it is still day, although doing this on a regular basis will leave you exhausted as your body finds difficulty in resuming the cycle."

lisa b replied: "Caffeine affects everyone differently. Google caffeine and research it. Your better off without it and read a book, it always makes me tired at night."

Ross A replied: "because they are forcing you awake, they extend your circadian rhythm I think."

Why is 1 Caffeine Pill Worse then the pots & pots of coffee everyone else drinks each day? I keep being told that my use of Caffeine Pills willKill Meeven though I only use,on average,1a day I take ONE200mgcaffeine pill when I wake up&drink lots of water with it instead of chuging a pot of coffee like every1 else I know There are days when I might cut an additional1in half&take them,1at a time, spaced a few hours apart,to equal2pills in a 24hour period,bt that STILL only equals400mg of caffeine400mg is the same as in 4average cups of coffee. 1woman actually started YELLING at me&is the biggest hypocrite of all since I sat down1 night&though about how much caffeine she was consuming: 2cups of coffee before leaving the house, A couple of cups of coffee or coco once at work,1to2 Two Liters of DietPepsi, A RedBull before going2the club,Chocolate,A stop at Starbucks after lunchThe list goes on&on&on of how much caffeine she consumes yet1to2caffeine pills(equaling2to4cups of coffee)a day is going to KILL ME?? How is this possible? Why am I going to die bt not her?

I wake up after sleeping for 2 hours and can not fall back asleep! What is the best pill to help me stay asleep I do not have trouble falling asleep (usually). Once I am asleep and wake up- I always walk straight in to the kitchen half asleep and eat a ton of sweets (which I am not big on during the day). I am then awake and I can not fall asleep for about 2 or 3 hours. I have cut back on caffeine but can not figure out why it happens. I would like some ideas aobut why it would happen, and because it does, what pills I can take or what is the best way to get a good nights sleep for once! I have tried some different sleeping pills, but I would like to know what everyone else likes or does. Thanks!

bethany replied: "try exercising before bed, don't take sleeping pills, bad news! there is a dietary supplement, completely safe, called Melatonin. you want the 3mg tablets. take 1 before bed. Good luck! and sweet dreams!"

Amanda H replied: "while I was in the hospital I could not sleep cause I was away from home and they gave me ambien and it worked great!"

CorruptedMonk replied: "Don't take pills...no good for you. Try alternative medicine... Acupuncture Works great!!!"

i_care replied: "check out this link. Melatonin was mentioned in it as well as one of the answers above. But there's also a few other ideas: 1. lower your soda and coffee intake 2. a glass of warm milk before bedtime 3. a capsule or 2 of calcium supplement 4. avoid taking long naps during day time hope it helps! :-)"

lil_loodle replied: "Here are some things you can try before taking sleeping pills. Try to avoid the sweets - the sugar rush will keep you up for a few hours. Don't force yourself to fall back asleep if you haven't done so in 15-20 minutes - instead, you should get out of bed and do some light activities to relax yourself. These activities include reading, meditation and yoga. You can also take a hot bath or drink some warm milk. Give yourself about 20-30 minutes to do these activities and then go back to bed."

hot_singing_babe replied: "i strongly suggest valerian root. it's great at relieving stress and tension! you can get it over the counter and it's a great sleep aid! if you have one of those "racing minds" or "i can't turn my head off no matter how tired i am" then this will definitely help. you can find at your local grocery store in the pharmacy or herbal remedy section. start off taking 500-1000mgs, 30-45 minutes before you go to bed. now you can get this stuff in capsule form and it's 100% safe (my whole family has been taking it for years and our family doctor actually recommended it) however the only downside is that the more potent the brand your taking the stronger the smell. and this stuff smells AWFUL! but it's worth it. within 5-7 days you should notice a definite change in your sleep. WARNING! i strongly do not suggest that you take Tylenol PM and booze, in any form or combination. the main ingredient in Tylenol PM and Advil pm, or benadryl for that matter is diphenhydramine. here's what happens when you take it: You can walk into a drugstore and choose from an array of sleep aids, offered without prescription. The main ingredient of over-the-counter sleeping pills is an antihistamine. Antihistamines are generally taken for allergies, but also make you feel very sleepy. Common over-the-counter sleep medications are Sleep-Eze, Sominex, Nytol, and Unison; they contain antihistamines such as: diphenhydramine hydrochloride, diphenhydramine citrate, or doxylamine succinate. In general, over-the-counter sleep medications are not a good choice because they: Are not intended for long-term use. Interfere with mental alertness during the day, so you should avoid driving and other similar tasks. You may also be at risk for falling asleep Reduce the quality of your sleep by reducing time you spend in deep sleep. Use over-the-counter sleep medications only for transient or short-term insomnia and in conjunction with changes to your sleeping habits. Be sure to pay attention to your bodys physical response to these sleep medications."

Is there any kind of pill that's has caffeine effects without the after affect? I'm kinda addicted to caffeine cause I kinda need it. I'm always tired. I usually wake up at 6:48 and get ready for bus. Then school ends at 3:05 and i take the bus back. I hate the bus so much!! I always feel kinda dead after school. I feel like I need more energy or something, the other students don't seem as tired as me. Is there such a pill that gives energy but doesn't have the bad effects of caffeine? Or any bad effects at all? Anything close?

anyone know some natural ways to wake up after a sleepless night? i drink coffee like most people drink water, and it has zero effect besides dehydrating me, so that's out. carbs make me tired, and i'm afraid of caffeine pills. sorry i'm difficult, but any suggestions? appreciate it:)

kittyfreek replied: "You are right to avoid caffeine pills - especially on top of all that coffee you will just end up jittery and shaky then feeling truly terrible when it all wears off - but water does help by refreshing you inside and out. Take a cool shower unless it's cold outside then make it warmer. Eat fruit and yoghurt (bananas are great and easily digested.) For every other cup of coffee you normally drink have a glass of water, or have half strength coffee made up with extra water. You are bound to feel dips in your energy so if you can at these times take 5 minutes to sit down or take a quiet walk. Make sure you you don't let yourself get too hungry but, as you say, don't eat too much. When you use the loo splash your face with water when you wash your hands. That usually helps. And remember tonight you have a nice relaxing bath and a good night's sleep to look forward to!"

Lamar's Alarm replied: "aromotherapy - sniff, apply topically, diffuse with Citrus smelling scents; sniff, apply topically, diffuse with Mint Family scents (peppermint, spearmint, wintergreen) edit Yeah, I just re-read and fully understood your question. Call in stating you're gonna be late and get that needed rest. Or take a "power nap" during your lunch break."

Jeremiah replied: "Keep moving, and stay busy. Try not to rest at all, until you go to bed for the night. If you're running on zero sleep, it's actually better not to rest, or at least it is for me. If I rest, or even sit still for too long, I crash and become pretty much useless for the rest of the day. If I stay busy, it's a lot easier to keep feeling awake."

bassdoc replied: "If you have a sleepless night then aren't you already awake? But seriously, the cure is to sleep better, don't drink coffee or tea after 4:00PM, and no juice or anything with sugar in it either (such as ice cream - sorry). Before you go to sleep, have a glass of warm milk, then a glass of red wine, then do pushups and situps, then spank your monkey - works like a charm."

Steve P replied: "Keep searching and you will discover the reason for your insomnia. Making the appropriate changes in your lifestyle will allow you to get a good night sleep again. It may help you to read my article Insomnia: Reasons and Remedies at HubPages to help you discover how to cure this condition."

turreima replied: "It's a misconception that caffeine dehydrates you. It doesn't, unless you take a near fatal dosage (it takes about 4000mg caffeine to cause a diuretic effect; it takes 5000mg to kill you. A cup contains about 100mg, as a reference point). A good drink in the morning to have is yerba mat, a South American herb. It's widely available at world food shops and health shops. It contains no caffeine at all, but has quite substantial amounts of mateneine which has similar and less harmful side effects (ie no headaches/indigestion etc). It's best drunk without milk and tastes great with a bit of honey added. Personally I drink matcha tea when I can afford it (it can be expensive, and I'm on minimum wage!!). Matcha tea is the Japanese green tea which is drunk in the traditional tea ceremonies. It's quite high in caffeine, higher than coffee, but it's also filled with antioxidants - about 70 times the amount found in a glass of orange juice! So it's very god for you. Eating a good, hearty breakfast every morning will wake you up as well. If you regularly have sleepless nights then you probably have insomnia. There are many things you can do to help you sleep at night. You can drink herbal teas such as lavender, chamomile and lemon balm (elissa) which all contain oils that can help you to relax. A hard day's work is a traditional and very successful way of sending you to sleep at night! Exercise in the evening (as long as it's not too strenuous) is also helpful. A long session of sex is great for sending you off to blissful sleep too - No wonder I'm not sleeping, I've been single for almost two years now! ;)"

lumesire replied: "Try tea with boxthorn/goji berries. They're actually pretty trendy right now, so it shouldn't be too hard to find. Try eating something protein-rich with breakfast to help give yourself some sustainable energy throughout the day."

How bad is caffeine when TTC? A couple days a week, I will take HALF a caffeine pill just to wake me up in the morning and get me going. Is this hurting my chances, does anyone know? Thanks in advance.

Can I be immune to caffeine? I never drink coffee (I hate the taste) and rarely drink pop. Why is it when I drink energy drinks or take caffeine (wake-up) pills I get no energy/awakeness from them? I can take them and have a full night a sleep without a problem.
