what are the chances of becoming pregnant on clomid? ive had all my tests i have only one tube and one overy left due to a large cyst the gyny wants to put me on clomid is there chance of multipul pregnancy with clomid i have to think about it and due to go back in march and let the gyny have my answer

LP replied: "yes, there is a chance for multiples! it's my understanding that clomid stimulates the ovary to release eggs. if you don't have any problems with your uterus, then there is a healthy environment where more than one egg can implant!"

starlet108 replied: "There is a risk of multiple births with Clomid - but hey, on the plus side you have all the babies at once xx"

Mithras replied: "Tried it when I was trying to get pregnant with no results.....but have a look at the link below it may help...seems to say there is a chance of multiple pregnancy with it.....but at least you will understand what it does and why it does it......good luck...keep faith it will happen hon' took me 10 years for my first born and then another 4 years for the next child....:-D"

kate d replied: "It didn't work for me, but its successful for some. It didn't give me any unpleasant side-effects, so its worth a try. Not sure about increased risk of a multiple pregancy, I'm afraid. All the best of luck."

Lisa M replied: "I conceived my daughter w/clomid's help. I was having very irregular periods and taking clomid was the only way I could control my period and actually ovulate. It took me six months. They would not have let me take it any longer because of possible long term side effects. I was told that it does increase (slightly) the odds of multiples. It was not like other treatments where the chance of multiples is extremely high. I remember it being a slight increase. One of the side effects that I had was weight gain. Talk w/your doctor about all the side effects then do what is right for you. Good luck."

SNAP! replied: "an average woman's chances of having twins is like 1%....with clomid it's about 9 or 10%....so, it's a pretty big increase in your chances, but it's not a huge percentage either good luck... oh, and i think i read your chances of concieving on clomid are increased about 40% than without it"

ros t replied: "very likely you produce more eggs so thus making easier for a sperm to get into one of them. check out some sites"

Has anyone got pregnant with Clomid on cycle 1? I'll be starting Clomid on Tuesday and I'm suppose to be ovulating on my own around the 19-24th and around same time with clomid. Can this increase my chances of becoming pregnant. I'm tired of trying and I may give up if this clomid don't work.. If you did become pregnant what else did you take besides the clomid (supplements)?

Getting the baby fever! replied: "I got pregnant on one cycle of clomid with my fourth child. I ovlulated on the 17th day of my cycle. I didn't take any other medications. I am not sure why you are on comid if you ovulate on your own because that is what is meant to do. So if you just have unexplained infertility clomid may not solve your problem. But I do with you the best of luck and I hope you get the BFP you desire."

Caroline W replied: "I did not but did the second month. If clomid is going to work it will within the first few months. I would suggest taking something to help with cervical mucus since clomid can make yours hostile. Guaifenesin is a good one it should be with the cough medicines but make sure its the only ingredient. best of luck"

Baby on the way! 11/9/09 replied: "First off, don't ever give up. My advice would be not to try so hard. In January I started provera to jump start my cycle- my body didnt respond to that and my doctor was sending me to an Infertility Specialist.. well I finally got my period and I called my OBGYN and asked if I could take clomid just to give it a shot before going that route.. She said it was okay and I am currently 4wks 4days. But to be honest, I took the pills and had so much going on in my life that my husband and i didnt try. We didnt time the days we had sex, we didnt check for ovulation.. it just happened. and i believe that it happend because we took the pressure off. But to answer your answer, I became pregnant off my first cycle of clomid however I dont think clomid was entirely the reason we were successful. Good Luck =)"

Do i have chances of becoming pregnant this month? I finished my 1st dose of clomid 50mg on 16th July,On 24th i had ovulation pain on both ovaries, yesterday i have some pain which seemed like ovulation pain on both ovaries again,i also had some headache, backache which i still have, heartburn.Do you think i have good chances of getting pregnant this month?

styree replied: "DEAR MISS I WOULD SAY IT IS 50% TO 50% ALL DEPENDS ON MOON OK TAKE CARE"

Sabine replied: "Yea I would say go for it and I wish you the best of luck!!!"

i have one tube blocked and one tube open, what are my chances of becoming pregnant? they have me on clomid 100mg and i was just wondering if the ovaries take turns in releasing an egg, like is the egg sent down the same tube each month or do they swop up? the left tube on month and the right the other?

Vertigo replied: "Generally, women ovulate from alternate ovaries each month - one side one month, the other side the next month. You will still ovulate on the blocked side, but the egg won't have anywhere to go. If you have one open tube and if there aren't any other problems, the chances are pretty good that you will conceive."

Simon C replied: "Only one egg is released at a time, and it's random. About 20 eggs ripen but one is released. Of course, very rarely two are released and this causes non-identical twins."

Vr replied: "I agree, as long as you don't have any other complications, you should be able to conceive pretty easily. You will only be able to conceive every other month though, but it'll still happen! Best of luck!"

JustWondering replied: "I heard that it changes from one side to the other side. When I went in for my ultrasound at 12 weeks she could tell which side I ovulated from. So I really think thats true."

Logans's Mommy replied: "Let me just give you some hope! I have a completely blocked right tube. After 3 months of watching my ovulation through ultrasound. It was found that I only ovulated on my right side. 2 of the those 3 months I was on Clomid 50mg. I was told that I wouldn't conceive because I have a right dominate ovary and only ovulate on my right side where the tube is blocked. I was given a blood test just 4 days before my missed period and I was told that It was a for sure NO! I was scheduled for surgery Dec 19th 2007 to see if they could fix my tube or if they needed to remove it with the ovary so I would ovulate on my left side. On Dec 12th they gave me another blood test because I missed my period. I conceived! I was pregnant! Don't know how... But if it can happen for me, I'm sure it can happen for anyone! My Fertility Dr told me that sometimes an egg can travel into your other tube. (I don't have any medical evidence on that, all I know is that some how I got pregnant.) If you would like to talk. Message me!"

repojoe replied: "I have the same issue and according to my RE our chance of conceiving with one tube is the same as if we had two tubes....it just may take a little longer. I'm on my first month ttc and and having pregnancy symptoms. Good luck!"

I'm getting ready to start Clomid was wondering what my chances of getting pregnant are the first time? I got pregnant with my son naturally and 3 years later I find out I have pcos. I became pregnant in Oct of last year and then m/c in Dec at 8 weeks. Since I have found out that I dont ovulate but once a year. I was just wondering if anyone has gotten pregnant on the first round of clomid after getting pregnant once or twice naturally. Any info would be soooooo helpful. Thanks

Rocker Wife replied: "If Clomid makes you ovulate the first time out, your chances are as good as any. Some women get pregnant on the first cycle, some women need more time. The success rate with Clomid is within 6 months of treatment. However, if after a few months you find you're still not ovulating you may want to move on to something else."

me5abanjatti replied: "Hi, i've been on clomid for a dozen cycle's and injectables. TTC for 4 yrs. Its a trial n error, dear. If it works, it work! Best of luck!"

what are the chances of becoming pregnant since i have PCOS ???? I am 22 years old and i have just found out that i have PCOS. I really want to become pregnant and i am on the medications : Metformin 1000mg, levothyroxin 75 Mcg. I am a non-smoker, i do not drink, and i currently weigh 240 lbs. i have been gaining weight very easily. i have been to my OBGYN which is also a fertility doctor, and he recommended that i should think about taking CLOMID. But i want to know the chances of having a baby without using CLOMID? I really need help and if you have any information that will be helpful please share. P.S. Ive been married for 2.5 years now and still no pregnancy.... HELP ?? Thanks Bunches!! i do have peroids but they last for months at a time like this one i've had since july 13th and today is august 24th . . it's so crazy. . and then some months i don't even have one . . . i just never know . .. it makes me so upset. . oh and my metformin is 1,000 2x a day. sorry i did not mention that . . but my levothyroxin is 75 mcg once time a day. . thanks again everyone :o)

mominohio replied: "Low card eating. Limit your bread, cereal, sweet and pasta intake and that will help with the wheat and even can help with ovulation. I was diagnosed with PCO at 19 and they didn't know much at that point. I gained so much weight I just didn't feel like me anymore. I decided to go on a no carb diet and lost 40 lbs. I got pregnant when i was 22 after getting my cycles back to normal and finally showing signs of ovulation. I continued with low carb eating and when my son was 19 months old I got pregnant again. My cousin took my advice and did the low carb eating lifestyle after trying like crazy to get pregnant. She got pregnant within 4 months. I did try Provera to get cycles going and clomid and some other meds but nothing worked until i lost the weight and started taking care of myself. I had to cut out pop and candy and stuff I really loved but it was worth it. I wasn't on metformin but I took another medicine that was basically the same thing (but OTC) and took prenatal vitamins everyday before getting pregnant. So to sum it up the main thing you need to do now is low carb eating and lose some weight. I know it sounds like it wouldn't work but it worked for many PCO woman that I know. Depending on your height at 240 I would say you probably have to lose about 40-50 lbs to really regain control of your body."

Angela M replied: "wow babe thats alot of meds i know the feeling (meds not pcos not trying to overshadow) i had a friend who didnt until she was on meds for fertitlity but then at the same time most times meds cause multiples. you might want to take that into consideration with pcos if you run the risk of once around the possibility of multiples might be a good thing."

wifey2david replied: "I have PCOS, too, and in my research I've discovered that a LOT of women with PCOS do get pregnant. If you really want to have a baby, you may want to start the clomid. I know a lot of success stories from the metform/clomid "cocktail". Best of luck, and sticky baby dust to you!"

Michelle C replied: "I too have PCOS. :( The chances are pretty good. Just as long as you do what the other ladies have mentioned here (such as lose weight and eat low carb and excersie) But try to lose weight. Ive tried clomid and it didnt work for me. :("

The Queen Has Spoken replied: "Sweetie, one of the symptoms of PCOS is infertility. And weight gain. I have a good friend who has PCOS. She tried for years to become pregnant. She didn't have any luck until she took fertility drugs. So my advice is to go ahead and take the Clomid. Otherwise you are just butting your head on a brick wall. Also, my friend couldn't drop any weight until she had gastric bypass surgery....."

Andrea S replied: "The low carb thing works. I have PCOS and am now 25 weeks pregnant with my 2nd child (a little boy). I know it is hard, but have hope. We were about to give up, and then we got this wonderful suprise. Try to avoid the clomid if possiable, but do what is best for you. You will get there. Don't underestimate WATER! Drink up. IT helps"

C S replied: "I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 15/16, and was told I could never have kids. But I got pregnant at 18, had my daughter, and got pregnant again at 23, and now have a one year old and are TTC #3. Miracles do happen."

Jessy replied: "Do you have a regular period? Without a regular period it means that you are not ovulating. Clomid can help you to Ovulate. I had to take it and I conceived on the second cycle taking it. It is very hard to get pregnant when you have PCOS so you may need help, but in the end the only thing that matters is when you finally you get that positive pregnancy test, whether it is a natural conception, or with the help of Clomid a healthy pregnancy is what is wanted. You could tyr on your own to get pregnant, but if it still does not work you should try Clomid. No matter what you decide I hope that you do get pregnant. Good Luck."

drruth replied: "Have you talked to your doctor about taking more Metformin? I am about 130lbs and I was supposed to go up to 2000mg of Metformin, but I get pregnant before I made it that far. There are books out there about PCOS and a diet that is the best way to lose weight with PCOS and control your diet. If you realy want to conceive without Clomid, I suggest losing weight, because I have read that if you lose weight, you have a better chance of getting pregnant. Good luck."

what are my chances of becoming pregnant?? i've been having irregular periods since i've gotten a period and i just realized that me having a retroverted uterus might have something to do with my inability to conceive. i've been trying for about 4 years now and still nothing! =( i just want to know what are the chances of me conceiving naturally...i have never taken any birth control, and i tried the minimal dose of Clomid once, but it gave me alot of side effects (moodiness, no sex drive, really dry down there, painful intercourse, etc!!)

little red replied: "not an expert on this...but sometimes this can happen if you've been on the pill for a long time...it takes your body longer to ajust....took a family member almost 3 years before she had her first and now she has 3.....but to find out for sure youreally need to go to a Doc...there are alot of things now that can help you get prgenent.... good luck...hope for the best..."

Katey replied: "IF everything is perfect (timing of sex, no problems with the egg, no problems with the sperm, no problems anywhere), about 20% each month. If there are issues, it drops drastically. 4 years and all that has happened is your doc has given you Clomid once? Switch doctors- there could be a number of other reasons why you are not conceiving."
