How long does jock itch last when using Athletes foot cream? ? I'm using Equate Athletes foot cream (compared to Lamisil), and I'm still feeling itchy and peeling down under. Its day 3 since i've been cleaning my scrotum regularly, making sure its dry before applying the cream and im still feeling uncomfortable with itchiness. Should I see a doctor or wait a week like it says on the bottle of the athletes foot cream?

nettienoo replied: "I would go see a doctor now. sometimes the over the counter remedies are not effective enough. You could have an allergy to your underclothes. I had to buy my husband all cotton underclothes as most of the problem was an allergy to synthetic undies. and wear a size bigger that you think you need. Get some air flow, you will feel much better in the long run."

charles d replied: "the best thing for any itch is PREPARATION H may sound dumb but it works."

How do I get rid of athletes foot in under a week? (Without Lamisil)? I am on the cross country team, and let me tell you, athletes foot is everywhere! On your feet, in the shower, your gonna get it sooner or later. The problem is, when I get it, I can get rid of it, but it keeps coming back! I mean, if I don't baby powder it for a day or put cream on it, it comes back the next day. Eventually it gets to the point to where I just want to get rid of it fast without going through the trouble! I have heard people talk about Lamisil (I think thats the name) and it cures it in under a week. I want a remedy that will do the same, but without buying the expensive medicines (and the average Lotramin and baby powder routine gets old, tiring, long-awaiting, and TEDIOUS). Do you know a remedy?

Lamisil--athlete's foot medication cream/powder? Hi, Very recently, I think I have contracted the 'foot fungal'. I had gone to purchase a Lamisil cream and applied it to the toes. However, about an hour after applying it to the infected toes, it began to tingle and itch greatly. Is this natural after the cream application? TQA for any info. Happy New Years, too.

MT K replied: "I cured a fungal infection with disinfectant----Lamisil didnt touch it----stings though----use it neat"

sian p replied: "Go to the docs - he can give you something else, my borther had it for ages before he went to the docs and it cleared up after the first couple of days with the stuff from the docs. Also make sure you wash your socks on a 60 degree wash."

what can I do to get rid of athletes foot? Topicals have never worked, Lamisil pills worked but the doc said no more because it could cause liver problems. Any over the counter stuff?

sharon w replied: "There are allot of excellent OTC products out there, creams or spray's.generic work as well as the "name "brand's.Available at any drug or Wal-mart store etc.Follow the instructions on the box. Take care. SW RNP"

Benny replied: "Lamisil tablets are no more harder on the liver than taking acetaminophen (Tylenol) or ibuprofen (Advil/Motrin). Athlete's foot is caused by a fungal infection. This can be minimized by thoroughly drying out your shoes....or even switching shoes.....wear one pair one day....and another pair the other day. Your feet evidently stay wet.....so I would also suggest that you change your socks like once a day as well......and wash them in bleach in the washer. The only other prescription tablet you can ask the doctor about is fluconizole.....so ask your doctor about that one. It's been used before for this. I don't know of any over the counter pills for this fungal infection. I do know that I found a pump spray Tinactin which really helped me out....so if you haven't tried it.....buy you several bottles and go from there........spray your toes, top and bottom twice a day. Best of luck to you."

deogee replied: "The most important thing is to use the over the counter meds or whatever you are using for it. To keep using it even after its gone. They suggest thirty days. Thats what they dont tell you. My son had a fungus and the dr said even if it goes away after a couple days you have to use it for 30 days to make sure its gone or it will come right back."

Any home remedies for athletes foot and nail fungus that really work? I dont want to distroy my liver with lamisil

What Athletes Foot Treatment? I have a mild case of athletes foot and i am going to buy something to help it tomorrow. I either want to buy the lamisil spray or the tinactin spray. I've used creme before but i think spray will be less messy, which brand do you think i should get?

chiquitin replied: "i would go for the tinactin spray. if you are willing to try this: peroxide works very well for athletes foot. good luck and make sure that you rotate the shoes that you wear."

greendalegal replied: "desenex"

what is the best cure for athlete's foot/cracked heal....i took lamisil but it only cleared up one foot? what is the best cure for athlete's foot/cracked heal....i took lamisil but it only cleared up one foot

jenandcara replied: "Buy tolfonate spray. And spray it on a few times a day .It will clear up in about a week.Good luck"

CommonRider replied: "you used the lamisil cream or pills? I had this problem, talked to a couple doctors all of them recommend the CREAM not the sprays. The cream says to used it for 2 weeks on your feet, however if you read fine print (per the doctor) sometimes it takes up to 4 weeks or even more, but as long as you see improvement after 4 weeks its working. Also, DONT STOP USING IT till its 100% gone or you will leave stronger athletes foot. I made all these mistakes and had to use the cream for MONTHS before it was healed, but trust me it works. Also some tips to prevent / speed up healing of athlete's foot: 1. Wear sandals out doors / go bare foot in the house, athletes foot loves warm moist environments 2. Wash your feet / change socks and shoes twice a day Dont let it get worse and get to your toenails.. it will make them yellow thick and brittle and you need to take possibly harmful pills for 3 months to heal"
