I had to skip last month on my period. Am on Lo/Ovral. I have been bleeding for days, help.? I am currently on Lo/Ovral. I had to skip my period last month for my pap test. I did not take my non-active pills. I am taking a new pack, and which starts on the white pills. I had sex last sunday, and started bleeding last monday. I am still bleeding. It has been 7 days, and it can't be my period. What is going on? I am on my white pills right now. I took a pregnancy test and it said not pregnant. help.

Brutally Honest replied: "What you're experiencing is very common...its called breakthrough bleeding and is one of the pitfalls of skipping the placebo week. It may stretch on for another day or two, or you may spot for the rest of the month. There's really nothing to be done about it unfortunately. You could contact your doctor, but chances are he/she will tell you exactly what I just said. Sorry."

Lo Ovral, side effects and other? I had a depo shot and absolutely hated how it made me feel which was depressed, so my doctor switched me to ortho tri-cyclen and the same feeling plus more cramping and bad irritability, now i have Lo Ovral i a supposed to start it sunday, but im worried that nothing will change, depression runs in the family. Basically i was wondering about people's experiences and any to all the side effects they have had from cramping to weight gain and everywhere in between, i read a few horror stories and now im worried. Also something about the pill allows you to skip a period if there is a special occasion or something what is that about. Anyone with any experience or information would be appreciate Thanks

sokokl replied: "I have taken Lo/Ovral before on two different occasions. I liked it pretty well. The second time I used it I used it to skip periods to treat a medical condition and aside from the breakthrough bleeding I got when I tried to do that I had pretty good results. My best results with it were when I took the whole pack. I had very few side effects from it but I ended up finding another pill in the long run that I liked even better. If you would like to talk to me some more about this please feel free to e-mail me off site any time."

Birth control ? Lo Ovral? D's girl replied: "well I don't know if this is an answer to your question, but I have tried Nuva ring and it works good with no side effects and also you don't have to worry about taking a pill or gaining weight. But I'm 23 and needed a more long term affect, so I'm now taking Merina, the IUD that lasts for 5 years, this is best for me because i won't have to worry about it, and it also is reversible, and lastly gradually reduces your cycles (I hate mine so that's a major plus). The only side affect I have expierienced is minor spotting which is normal since the IUD thins out the lining of your uterus. Hope this helps."

Has ant one used the birth control Lo-Ovral? Did you like it does it really lighten your periods, my doctor says I can also skip the period pills and start a new pack and not have my period for 3 months is this true??????

V replied: "I used lo-ovral years ago when I first married. At first it was helpful with my menstrual cramps (the main reason I went on it), however, then I had a period that lasted for way too long, so I went off of it. That doesn't mean, of course, that you will have the same sort of experience. :) Everyone is different, what works for one might not work the same for another. Any birth control pill can stop the periods, really, if the placebo pills are skipped and the active pills are taken consistently. This can be done as long as your doctor okays it, naturally."

logey03 replied: "i had 22 day periods never again"

Is it safe to skip sugar pills on birth control and go right to the next pack? Its' Lo Ovral #28 I want to skip my next period. But if my next period happens to start before I get to the next pack should I not bother, or will it actually stop it? And will I still be protected against pregnancy? sorry for all the questions thanks =]

buckeyeXOXOcutie replied: "the placebos are in there for a reason. dont skip them."

Kiara replied: "You should be fine as long as you start the pack , I skipped my sugar pills all the time and went to my next pack when I wanted not to have my period. You should be fine."

sissy replied: "Dr. on the Tyra Banks show yesterday said it was perfectly healthy maybe its on her website"

GeenaBeena replied: "It can stop it - it is okay to skip the sugar pills - except that you do not want your body to get used to not bleeding - i tried that, got off the pill and haven't had a period in over two years."

krittenita replied: "It's fine. Ever hear of that new pill, seasonale that only gives you 4 periods a year? It's the same idea. It's just regular birth control pills with the sugar pills eliminated. You'll be fine."

Skipping my period? Ive been on birth control for 2 months Im 19 years old I was wondering is it safe for me to skip my period. Im am on lo ovral.

mechanic1980 replied: "No problem whatsoever. Some people say that there is "buildup", but that is absolutely untrue. I would ask your gynocologist questions rather that ask me."

Antibiotics and Birth Control- Could I be pregnant? I skipped the 4th week of my pill pack, Lo-Ovral, being told that it would not hurt. I then took the next week as planned, and had unprotected sex- Friday night/Saturday morning. I missed Saturday night's pill, and double-dosed today... But today, I went to the doctor, and was put on antibiotics. Could I be/become pregnant from this weekends events? First: I did take it as prescribed. The doctor told me skipping week 4, which is basically sugar pills, would be fine. (I missed Saturdays because I was moving across states and it was packed in the truck.) Second: Again, week 4- sugar pills. (Shouldve left that part out, I guess.) Third: Thank you, August. I am currently abstaining until I am off the antibiotics, I was just worried about this past weekend.

Emma Lynn replied: "OH YEAH! If you skipped a whole week?? Look at the pill pack pamphlet and you will see what i mean, also antibiotics make the pill none effective too."

cassidy9184 replied: "Yes, you could be. But I have a question. What is the point in taking birth control if you aren't going to take it as it is prescribed?!"

Due August 26th w/ #2 replied: "Not from the weekend but if you don't use condoms until you are a week after being done with the antibiotics you can get pregnant."

beautiful replied: "antibiotics cancel out birth control pills. I personally did not know that until my sister whom is a nurse, ended up with an unexpected pregnancy. lol....she should have known better."

Can I get pregnant if I skip week 4 of my pill pack? I was told that the final week of my pill pack (Lo-Ovral) was basically just a placebo. I only took one or two that week, assuming that I would be fine since they were just sugar pills (or something to that effect). This past Sunday, I started right back up with the new pack, as directed to if I had taken that 4th week of pills. Can I get pregnant this week, for "skipping" a pill, even though they were the "inactive" pills? ((Note: I have been taking the real ones on time, as scheduled)) Thank you! I didn't skip right to the next pack, I just didn't take the pills that week. It's only my third month on them, so I wasn't sure- I'd never just skipped before. Thanks again!

Kooter replied: "No, the 4th row is just so you can keep the habit of taking your pill. you could skip taking them, but i'd recomend not going straight to the next pack."

WifeyMorgan replied: "No you won't get pregnant. I was on the pill for 9 years and Never took the 4th week. Also just so you know you can go on to the next pack and completely skip your period if you want too. Doing it will be the same as taking the 4-periods a year pill. Just make sure you don't do it for more than 3 months at a time. Having periods less than that can screw up your system."

NSUInstructor replied: "You can skip the fourth week and you can start a new pack if you want right away. Your body doesn't have to have a period every month. I would have at least three a year spaced out though."

Having birth control problems.... help please? started Lo/Ovral 28 pills in november completed 1 pack completely.. only took 13 out of the 2nd pack...skipping a day or two... Did NOT have sex at all during these times. Had period dec 4-6. and again Dec 26th- 19th. i havent taken any BC since sometime in Dec. I did have unprotected sex Jan 11th. I was due for AF the 23rd. It hasnt came yet and I dont feel like its coming.... any ideas?

Kelley replied: "If you were due the 23rd, you should take a HPT. You will be able to get an accurate test result."

Baby Boy- Due 6/12/2009 replied: "You may just be having a messed up cycle due to taking the pill and stopping like that. It normally takes about 3 months to get the pill out of your system."

Justine replied: "That was all a bit hard to understand... But seeings as you skipped pills and your fairly new to them anyways sounds like your cycle is in a bit of a fit. It's normal to spot the first few months you are on the pills as well....and because you skipped some that's most likely why you got your period. It sounds like to be safe you need to go your doctor asap though. Explain all of that to them, and they will most likely run a pregnancy test just to be sure!"

la_vie_est_bellexoxo replied: "Well, you could just be stressed, but I would wait and see. Your birth control was so beyond not in effect though incase that was what you were wondering (sorry). As much as you might not want to get pregnant your body absolutely wants you to; in fact it tries to get you pregnant... that is just how our bodies work. Since you were supposed to get your period on the 23 you could have very well been ovulating around the 11th. There is a chance though that the stress of missing your period is making it take even longer to come. If anything, just take a pregnancy test to find out for sure. It would show up by now if you were. Good luck, and I hope that it goes well!"

Switching birth control, pregnant? Please help!? I was on Lo/Ovral for 2 months straight as a Sunday starter. When I finished the last pill of Lo/Ovral on Saturday.. The next day, I started a new birth control called Nortrel. I have been on Nortrel for 6 days and my boyfriend and I had unprotected sex while on the new pill, (Nortrel). Does it matter if I switch birth control without skipping one day? Is it still the same protection? Is there a possibility that I might be pregnant because I have not been on the new birth control for a month straight? Although I have been on Lo/Ovral for 2 months before hand without waiting any time in between the old pack and new pack? * He did NOT ejaculate inside of me. I am just worried about the "pre-cum". 10 points for the best answer :)

Angel Girl replied: "u could be pregnant. There's always a possiblility of being pregnant anytime u have sex"
