Will loratadine(claritin) relieve ear pain? I think I have an ear pain.

angela replied: "If the pain is caused from sinisus or allergy's it will definatly help. But you should be taking laratadine (Clartin) D with a decongestant in it."

jenomamx1 replied: "no it won't, loratadine is use to treat allergies not to treat pain. what do you mean with i think i have an ear pain? anyway go to your doctor to get the treatment that you need"

dvd replied: "*Try to sleep with the sore ear up. *Acetaminophen or ibuprofen are effective pain relievers for ear pain. You can safely use both medications together if one alone is not enough. *Warm compress apply a warm washcloth to the ear. *Warm olive oil, vegetable oil, or garlic oil put several drops of one of these into the ear. MAKE SURE THE OIL ISN'T TOO HOT. *Anesthetic eardrops if the above remedies aren't enough, these are available by prescription and can numb the eardrum to minimize the pain for an hour or two. *WARNING if you see any liquid or pus draining out of the ear, DO NOT PUT ANY OF THE ABOVE DROPS INTO THE EAR. See below under ear drainage."

What happens when pain killers expire? I've got all these expired over the counter drugs lying around (naproxen, ibuprofin, aspirin, and some nasal decongestants like loratadine) and I'm wondering what happens after they expire. Do they just lose potency? Or do they somehow become more dangerous? If they just use potency, I'd prefer to keep them since I usually only take half doses when I need something anyhow. Either way, though, I'd hate to throw them out- goodness knows we don't need any more chemicals getting into the water.

Kris B replied: "Usually, OTC meds just become less effective after they've expired, rather than becoming dangerous. If you do discard them, you should drop them off to your local hazardous waste drop off point. The old standby of flushing them down the toilet is no longer recommended for the reason you state, and even throwing them in the garbage can will eventually result in them seeping into groundwater. Check with your waste management department for where to drop off. Best of luck!"

talbot983 replied: "Various things happen depending on the drug, the age, how the meds were stored etc. loss of potentency toxic reaction to chemical changes absolutly nothing (if you are lucky) mold developing on meds"

will taking expired (2 yr old expired) allergy relief or pain reliver cold pills do any thing negative? I been taking *new looking* 2 yr old expired pain reliver cold and also allergy relief pills .. i didnt notice they both expired 2 yrs ago when I was taking them... i been real sick.... could taking these do anything negative to me besides not working as well? Heres what I been takin loratadine 10 mg acetaminophen 325 dextromethorphan hydrobromide 15 guaifenesin 100 pseudoephedrine hydrochloride 30 plz no retard or smarta$$ anwers thx

imsety replied: "These shouldn't been taking at any risk to your health and go to your doctor and get a renewal."

J B replied: "All of these are over the counter medications. Why don't you just go get a fresh supply and then you won't be worrying about whether they can harm you or not. Taking old medications is generally not recommended, not because of harm but because they may be breaking down chemically because of improper storage, etc. and not work as well as fresh medications would for you."

Jman replied: "Medicines injested orally lose there potency over time. After one year you are only getting about 70 to 80% effectivness from the medicine. It will not hurt you, but you will receive a lower dose then is stated on the bottle/package. Peace out."

Did i take too much medicine for my cold? i have a bad cold and i want it to go away, i didnt think about how much i took though. this is what i did take though acetaminophen 325mg pain reliever phenylephrine HCI 5mg nasal decongestant loratadine 10mg antihistamine 2 mucinex dm tablets spray in each nostril of nasonex Thanks :). i've accidently overdosed in the past, and wanted to be sure this wasnt too much

Jeff B replied: "no"

Alethia MD replied: "Not, it's ok!! You can even take that every 8 hours, still ok"

rufusalmeida replied: "Yes, you are taking too many. You should never go with multiple drugs together. There may be chances of drug interaction. Maily nasal spray should be used only if require. So it is better to try one and adding another if required. But before you start any medicine morning breath exercises and drinking hot water will give lot of relief."

can i trip on these..? ok so heres a list of shyt i found in my kitchen. whut can i trip on?? & dont leave stupid "dont do drugs!!!" "its soooooo bad" guess whut i dont give a FU.CK soo heres the list...... Acetaminophen (pain reliever) Loratadine aka Antihistamine (an allergy pill) Melatonin (sleeping pill) Naproxen Sodium (pain reliever) Concerta 27mg (prescription ADHD meds) soo i have more but i juss dont feel like lookin for it! :)

tiffanymro23 replied: "this is so sad"

International Spy replied: "I'm pretty sure (if taken correctly) you can get high (or die) off any of it. It's not intelligent, but you can do it. Have fun screwing up your life and health!"

yeah replied: "you realize your retarded right. If you want to know anything about these drugs go to their websites to figure out what their side effects are. Have fun fucking yourself up"

Sloth replied: "blow two concerta and some naproxen"

Jeffers464 replied: "Acetaminophen is generic Tylenol - you can really mess up your liver and stomach if you take a lot of those. (And they won't do anything for you.) Too much antihistamine could put you into a coma. Melatonin will make you sleepy - too much could kill you. Naproxen Sodium is generic Aleve - it will cause you to have a heart attack or stroke (I can't remember which) if you overdose it. Concerta - I have no idea."

Jonathan S replied: "are u serious, if you wanna "trip" get some real drugs. If u wanted to get high, u would have to take soo much of one of these drugs, u would kill yourself. and no taking them all together wont work either, itd prob make u stupid, if you have any more brain cells left. u better give a f.uck. u only got one life."

v replied: "hahahaahhhahahahaahhaahahhaahhaha"

Robert replied: "no thats just a bad idea"

Trevor C replied: "my suggestion is you dont...trip off those and i know this from experience.. i had my days of taking pills and ive taken 12 codine at once...which made me throw up 5 hours later and screwed up my liver...but really take advice from these people and smoke some weed instead of possibly overdosing on something u dont know a single thing about"

omegared179 replied: "I used to take generic a couple (2) generic ritalin and that was pretty cool a few vicadin is fine too, but don't drink with it. Yeah, but the stuff you listed will not make you trip, the concerta might make you wired, but besides that, dont touch that other stuff"

Medical help pls. I feel choking in the chest. extremely paining when eating. Feeling like a burp but the way? is blocked. Showed to doctors but no good. Difficult to find a specialist in my country. Recently a doctor treated me for allergy. Gave prednisolon loratadine and alegra. Is it a side effect? What I request from you is a clue as what it can be. Thank you.

Small Stuff, Big Dreams replied: "sounds like maybe hiatal hernia... try suggesting it to your doc"

chattemm replied: "could be heart burn or GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease )"

hazeltine4 replied: "It also could be acid reflux. It is possible it is a side effect. Please talk to the doctor, rather than random strangers on Yahoo!"

should i go back to the gp? i went to my GP because i was hit on the nose with a tennis ball and can now not breathe out through my nose properly and the cartilidge at the top of my nose is hurting, he gave me some syrup called loratadine saying it will help the pain and help[ me to breathe but i still cant breathe through my nose properly even though the pain is better\ its been 4 days do you think i should go back or wait for two weeks or something?

JANE J replied: "You don't say how long ago you were hit on the nose. I would wait for two weeks after finishing the medicine then go back."

Rhianna replied: "Loratadine is an antihistamine. I guess he might have given it to you to stop your nose running. Give it a 7-10 days, if still no improvement, see your GP."

mean cats mama replied: "Why don't you call the gp & tell him the syrup isn't working. He'll either have you come back in for a recheck or prescribe you something else."

amberade replied: "Wait 4 more days,it is the bruising still coming out,"

did i take too much medicine? please help? i have a bad cold and i want it to go away, i didnt think about how much i took though. this is what i did take though acetaminophen 325mg pain reliever phenylephrine HCI 5mg nasal decongestant loratadine 10mg antihistamine 2 mucinex dm tablets spray in each nostril of nasonex Thanks people. I've accidently overdosed in the past and just wanted to make sure this wasnt bad. yeah , i didn take the appropriate dose of each medicine.

Deez replied: "Problem is...the stuff you're taking is only temporary relief...there is no way to make a cold go away sooner. It'll just have to run it's course. With you taking all these meds it doesn't allow your immune system to try and fight it on it's own..."

Bravo Sierra replied: "Thats not really too much. Where you run into problems is when you take 2 or 3 things with the same active ingredients. Every time I get sick I take a similar combo of drugs. You'll be a little spacey for a few hours but you should feel pretty good."

Cammie =] replied: "The good thing here is that you didn't take the same medication twice (tylenol Pm and tylenol sinus headache, and vicodin for example all have tylenol) Another good thing is that it looks like you took appropriate doses of each medication. Also, each of your medications do different things. It would have been better if you spread them out a little so that you wouldn't take as much if the first things you took worked, but I think that what you took is appropriate. If it makes you feel bad, I would put a call in to your doc."

Joseph P replied: "I'm not a doctor, but I know there is not any cure for the common cold no matter how extreme the symptoms are. All the medications that you took are designed to relieve some of the symptoms, such as aches, pains, sniffles, ect. My best experienced adivce, 'get plenty of rest & drink plenty of liquids'. Don't laugh, but chicken soup really, really, really helps. Good luck & get well soon."

what stuff should i put in a....? hi, what stuff should i put in a home pharmacy or first-aid kit here's what i have in it and please tell me what i need: 1. rubicalm (pain relief for back, chest and other places) 2. loratadine (allergy medicine) 3. cephalexine (antibiotic) 4. thermometer 5. some cotton 6. some cologne 7. bandages 8. Panadol (a must have!)

sporkk replied: "Add scissors, nonstick gauze in various sizes, medical tape, those snap-to-activate hot/cold packs (or, since it's for your house, get some regular cold packs and stick them in your freezer), and antibacterial ointment. I also have to ask, why do you need cologne in a 1st aid kit?"

I mixed some pills and now Im sick, but i have a very specific case...please help!? Basically, i started to feel bad earlier this week because of allergies to pollin. But it would only ever be my head, throat, etc. never my stomach, that was in pain. This morning i took the following and started throwing up water: 2 paracutemal tablets with codine 1 non-drowsy hayfever and allergy relief (loratadine 10 mg) 1 wellbutrin anti-depressent. *it may be important to note that i also took 4 paracutemal, 1 wellbutrin anti depressent, and 1 birth control pill just 12 hours prior. **its not that easy to go to the hospital because i am an American in Scotland. i do not have a doctor, and i'm going to Cyprus tomorrow. I don't want to make a big deal out of nothing, i just wanted to find out if these combinations were capable of making you sick.

taylorl62 replied: "Contact your doctor immediately!"

Michael replied: "Speak to your doctor do not rely upon people here seek professional help"

April F replied: "call poison control or an ambulance right now."

shortstuff replied: "Have someone take you to your closest emergency room right away or call an ambulance & do not wait!!!!!!!!!!"

ibelieveincinderella replied: "Sometimes codine makes me sick at my stomach and if I have to much in my system I may throw up. However, this is crazy that you are asking us...if it was an overdose it may have to late when you received answers...if you are still sick call the Doctor or Pharmacist immediately!"

LewyJ replied: "Sounds like you may have mroe than just allergies. Stop combining the codeine and welbutrin in those amounts. The codeinecould make you nauseated by itself. If you still feel this way after not taking any pills you may have another illness and suggest seeing your doctor."

Michael Y replied: "I wonder where did you get those pills one being wellbutrin anti-depressent. I do not know which country you are in but in Singapore that I live, it is classified as a 'contolled pill' which cannot be purchased over the counter but only prescribed by the respective medical professional. Why do you take all these medications instead of consulting a doctor. Mixing and self prescription of these medication would affect your life and endangering your body system. I would suggest that you get your husband or someone nearest to you if he in unavailable now to bring you to see a doctor or the nearest hospital. Take care."
