Can 1600 mg of Motrin in a day for someone with arthritis cause blood pressure to rise? The person who takes the medicine, normally needs higher doses of medication. He is worried that his blood pressure is too high 152/91 he is age 60. He stood up and got dizzy... and for one he stood up too fast, he's also been sick the last 3 days with a funky infection rash like bumps on his back that even the doctor doesn't know what they are. Just curious if the Motrin has any inclination on his BP or if it could be just cuz he's sick.

Chest Pain High Blood Pressure Normal test results? I am a 51 year old female smoker. I have been having Chest Pains (left side) for over a year, finally they started getting really bad taking my breath away, right arm hurt upper left back pain, left side neck pain, high blood pressure (when it was always low), fluid retention in my ankles and fingers upon waking up at 4 am for weeks now (blood pressure is highest at that time). Went to Urgent Care and was sent to the Emergency Room. Given 2 doses of Nitro, Moraphine and put on a Heart Monitor, had blood work, chest x-ray, EKG, Heart Ultrasound, all came back normal, sent home with Motrin 800. No blood pressure meds were given. The bottom number when I was admitted was 125 and when I was released was 96. The top never got over 168. Been home for 5 days and still living with JOLTS of chest pain on and off throughout the day and my left chest is always dull and aches. I have some pain in my left side under my chest but more towards the middle and directly behind that spot in my back. Could they have missed something. Never had any anxiety and don't feel stressed. My father had triple bypass Surgery at age 54 with none of these signs. I know these pains are not in my head as they make me double over and sometime yell out. Help please! Thanks to all, I have an appointment with my Primary Doctor this morning, I do take chewable 81mg aspirin. I know I need to quit smoking, going to ask for help today. Went to my primary Doctor yesterday, gave me a prescription for Nitroglycerin and ran some blood tests, put on blood pressure meds. Thinks I may have a partiallly blocked artery. Why wouldn't that show on the Heart Ultrasound?

DA DUCTA MAN replied: "you need to see a cardiologist soon, if the chest pain returns longer than 15 min you should probably go to er and ask for a nuclear stress test to evaluate for blockage in your heart arteries. also your primary doc will prob want you on a blood pressure med"

Dagobot replied: "I agree with the Nurse below. The other guy is an idiot, aldactone wont do anything for you. OK, first, STOP SMOKING. Second you have every single symptom that a person can have except for nausea and sweatiness, when they are having ANGINA or Heart Attacks. Tomorrow, go see your Primary Care Doctor and see what Cardiologist he wants to refer you too. 1 set of Blood work in the ER doesn't mean anything, the only way to rule out an acute heart attack is to get 3 sets of blood work every 6 hours to make sure your heart enzymes are not rising. Any more pains that last over 5 minutes, go the ER and get admitted to the hospital. ALSO start taking an Aspirin 81mg daily, go out and buy it now."

up2now replied: "Has she been drinking enough water? dehydration can cause dizziness."

ED M replied: "I pray for her, dont want to wait to long to get to a professionl, may regret it"

Chicago Dan replied: "SEE A DOCTOR! Why do people ask questions like this? "My baby has a nail in his head, What should I do?" Use common sense. Though I suppose it isn't that common, is it."

ck replied: "D O C T O R!!!"

mac replied: "Even though Motrin is not made of the same base as aspirin- it can cause bleeding --or thinning of the blood---get your mom to a doctor ASAP--dizziness is a symptom of many different serious and some not so serious diseases........see her GP ASAP"

riffyxraff replied: "Hi, it could be something as simple as an ear infection. Ear infections can upset the fluid balance within the ear canal which makes you feel so dizzy & nauseous that you have to remain lying down & keep your head as still as possible. The dizzy spells usually start off mild, but become progressively worse, if the condition is left untreated. It can make you feel very ill & also very scared. Most people assume you will have painful ears if the ear is infected, this isn't always true. In itself, slightly low blood pressure isn't a big deal. Either way, she does hneed to get checked out by a doctor as soon as possible."

My deployed husband has very high blood pressure... any suggestions? The military doctor told him just to drink more water. He had gone in for a sinus infection. Doesn't sinus medication raise blood pressure also? Isn't that dangerous? That doesn't seem quite right, but it's the military. They'll prescribe motrin for a broken arm. I think he said it was 164/102.
