Does the dry mouth, dizziness and nausea from taking Seroquel ever disappear? My mom is currently taking 200 mg of Seroquel at night. She may have an additional 50 mg during the day. Does anyone who takes Seroquel (especially if during the day) also experience nausea, dizziness and dry mouth? Do these side effects ever disapear? If so, how long does it take? Any advice or help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Does the nausea from Effexor XR ever go away? My mom is currently taking 300 mg of Seroquel at night and 37.5 mg of Effexor XR in the morning. We are about to increase her dose to 75 mg. She was having extreme nausea and some vomiting until we also added Kytril (an anti-nausea drug used for chemotherapy). Will the nausea ever subsude or will she always have to take Kytril?

whats up with the crazy side effects when i try to stop taking seroquel? I have massive headaches, nausea, blurred vision, stuttering, cold sweats, and insomnia when i try to wean my self off seroquel. I also have no patients and a terrible temper. I get so sick if I go longer than 24 hours without taking it, that I take it again just to make the side effects stop. With in 30 minutes to an hour after I take it again, I'm fine. This is my 4th attempt to stop taking it, what can I do to help?

donnie replied: "you need to talk to doctor. he or she will tell you how to tapper off you'er medication. if thats what you want to do"

krista replied: "Seroquel is a mood stabilizer which is a controlled substance. Therefore, you're getting some withdrawal symptoms. Do not stop taking it cold-turkey - wean yourself down slowly. Decrease your milligrams over maybe a two week period until you're off of it and you should be fine. Your symptoms will be much less noticeable that way."

Does anyone take both Effexor XR and Seroquel? My mom is taking both Effexor XR and Seroquel. She takes 200 mg Seroquel at night and we are working up to 75 mg of Effexor in the morning. I recently read about drug interactions and heart problems when taking both of these drugs together. Does anyone else have information on that? Are they safe to take together? Also, she is experiencing nausea and some dizziness. Does this go away? Thanks.

Am I going through Seroquel withdrawal? PLEASE help me!? I'm bipolar, and up until 5 days ago I was on 300mg of Seroquel. I got switched to Geodon, but I can't figure out if I'm going through Seroquel withdrawal or if I'm just experiencing some bad Geodon side effects. My symptoms are - Excruciating headaches, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. The headaches and diarrhea I can deal with, but I'm somewhat afraid of throwing up so the nausea and vomiting is triggering panic attacks. I'd like to know that if I really am going through withdrawal, how long does it last and is there anything I can do to make that time go by faster? Thanks everyone. I plan to see my doctor in a few days (she's only available on Tuesdays and Fridays, so I have to wait). Until then, I guess I'll just have to live off of saltines and ginger ale!

sandoz replied: "that sounds horrible. i was on seroquel because i was halucinating and when i went off of it i was experiencing migranes, sweating, nausea, and i was really jittery. ive gone on and off a lot of pills and thats what usually happens with me, as well as your symptoms. im pretty sure its a combination of both. it should take up to 2 weeks for it to go away; thats how long it usually takes me at least. but if it lasts longer that probably means youre having a bad reaction to Geodon. id see a doctor anyways though, before you take medication for your symptoms, just in case they react to the geodon and seroquel. medication even when you go off of it usually stays in your blood system for 2 weeks to 4 weeks. im sorry youre goin through that. it sucks really bad :( hope you feel better. -allye"

Chris H replied: "Please call your doctor. I use to take Seroquel and I don't know if you can switch to Geodon right away. Let you doctor know what is happening. Only your doctor can help you with stopping the symptoms."

the price of drugs is ridiculous!? i think that psychiatric medicine (and all medicine in general) is WAY overpriced! i paid $72 today for a prescrip for welbutrin for ONE month! i also pay $68 for a month of seroquel..$10 for trazodone and $10 for buspar and my pdoc now wants to put me on axid for nausea associated with seroquel...i have good insurance but this is still a TON of money. its taking over my life! can anyone help??

Alternatives to Lamictal? I'm taking Lamictal for bipolar 1, and I don't seem to be having much benefit. What has worked better for anyone else suffering from this illness? I'm also on Klonopin, Seroquel, and Xanax. The Xanax is intimidating, so I rarely EVER take it. Anything that involves weight gain or nausea as a side affect I will NOT take. If there are alternatives to Lamictal that have worked better for you, and the side effects didn't include nausea or weight gain please let me know. Thanks.

Judith replied: "There aren't that many mood levelers. I was on Lithium but it didn't work for me. Lamictal does. I take 300 mgs along with 225 mgs of Effexor XR & 100 mgs of Trazodone at night for sleeping. Pretty much all of them cause weight gain so you're going to have to decide whether you want to be a thin crazy person who is out of control & self-destructive or a person who is mentally better & more in control. It took many years for me to find the right drugs in the right dosages. I'm as good as I'm going to get. If you're on drugs that don't work, your dr needs to work with you until they do."

Has anyone taken Lamictal? Did it make you sick? I took my first dose tonight instead of my Seroquel. About 15-20 minutes later, got sick on my stomach and threw up. I read that nausea and vomiting can be a side effect. If you had this and kept taking it, did eating first help? Did it go away with time. I think it's the Lamictal that made me sick, but medicine usually takes 40-45 minutes to start having an effect on me.

giantdwarfbat replied: "useualy lamictal is started in small doses to prevent this ,when i first started using lamictal i was also being fazed of depicote and was farly ntolerant to stomach iritants due to the depicote"

I'm bipolar, tried several meds, nothing has worked. Help? I've been Bipolar, Agoraphobic (fear of crowds), and Emetophobic (fear of vomiting) since I was 15. I've been on Effexor for the last 3 1/2 years. It gives me bad side effects, I've had them since I started taking them. The most troublesome are the nausea, it's constant and I don't start feeling better until about 8 hours after I take it. Dry mouth, flatulence, vertigo, tremors and sporadic vomiting are other symptoms. I've also been on Paxil, Depakote, Celexa, Seroquel and Lithium. Depakote made me violent, Celexa made me horribly dizzy for the entire 6 months I was on it, Seroquel and Lithium landed me in the hospital for suicidal thoughts. I've had quite a few manic episodes. I'll be fine one minute and then something so small will set me off and I'll become a ballbag, crying nonstop and screaming like I'm dying. The same thing happened when I was on Paxil, which is why I was switched to a different one. I think I've become more depresses since being on Effexor.

No one knows what's wrong with me? I've always has an anxiety disorder. Lat year, I went of Lexapro, (anti depressant) and a small dose of Seroquel, to help me sleep at night. Seroquel is an anti psychotic, and works great for sleep. Anway, I stopped both, late Feb. I gained 30lbs, since last summer, and have NEVER had a weight problem. I thought it was( and my doc thought it was the pills). I am feeling nausea, but never throw up. 10 days now. I was in emergency, 3 weeks ago, with head pains. My blood work is normal. This stuff is not in my mind. I have not been so sick, and nauseas since I was pregnant, 15 yrs ago. I am NO WAY pregnant now. Nausea and head pain( CAT scan showed some enlarged sinus), is hard to know what it is. I don't think the two are related to eachother. Have you ever been nauseas for 10 days???
