Doctor Put Me On Lovan (prozac) Bad Side Effects Anyone Else? I am still getting really bad migranes 4mths after taking Lovan also my sleep is all over the place, does anyone else take or suffer from these, and should I stop Taking?

stardust23716 replied: "Prozac made me irritable and mean. It really affected my mood and made me more likely to fight/argue, etc. I'm not the fighting type... it was really weird. Also I had akathesia from it. It felt like this constant urgency to be moving... bounce my knee, tap my fingers, etc. I hated it. I couldn't hardly sleep because it seemed to make me more awake or something. If you've taken it for 4 months now and still have intolerable side effects, I would stop. After 4 months, any side effects you have from the Prozac will not go away. Your body is already used to it and things won't get any better. Do not quit taking it suddenly as it can cause you to feel sick, as if you had the flu. You need to be slowly taken off of it by adjusting the doseage gradually. It is best to consult with your doctor on this first. Good luck!"

prozac side effects? hey i need help.. ive been looking it up, but i need personal stories on it. im suppose to take prozac for my anorexia (help mood swings and give me appetite) but i DONT want to! they wont force me, but they say i have to go to all these appointments about it.. which im refusing to go to. does anyone know any bad side effects of it? reasons why i shouldnt take it? i heard someone gained 60lbs off of it.. and thats the last thing i need. im 15 year old girl if that helps :)

Mickey Dubya replied: "After long periods of time on prozac, you will start to feel down and depressed when you come off it for a while."

atltd25 replied: "Go to the meetings. there are a lot of horrible stories about prozac but they can do so much good. I was on it for a year and a half and it literally saved my life. It made me happy and active again. Side Effect for me were nausea and headache but those went away after 2 weeks which is usually the case. If the meds are bad, they can switch you to several other things so do not be afraid. get help. There are wonderful meds out there that can work for you, just be prepared to switch to another type if side effects are unbearable."

lozzasmile replied: "Prozac cannot be blamed for weight gain there are underlying issues which is causing the anorexia.I got diagnosed with traits of bpd and took prozac for a short time and it helped me relax about issues that were really affecting me at the time. The prozac will not make you gain weight but it will help you relax a little more about the underlying cause of your anorexia.Good luck and remember it will get better, things looked a little bleak with me for a while now i am fine X"

Diana replied: "I have been on Prozac for almost 2 and a half years now and I have honestly never had any side effects of it. It keeps me happy! It is only when I start not taking it b/c I think that I am okay that it causes any problems...and then it is just me falling into a contant state of depression again! You shouldnt have any problems with it. And if you do they can switch you to different meds. And I have never heard of the weight thing...I am pretty sure that wouldnt happen...it seems to outrageous!!! Also, I know they seem really pointless now..but go to the appointments. They will help you in the long run and you will look back and realize the point of them."

mizzouchik replied: "I took Prozac for my eating disorder for a year and never saw any side effects. It is commonly prescribed to calm to urge to binge/purge. It did help me with that and i did gain a little weight but it was probably because I moved away to college a few months later and had stress. Doctors that treat EDs know how sensitive and paranoid patient are about gaining weight so they won't put you on anything that will cause you to gain weight....it's mainly to calm that impulse. Just give it time and see if you feel any better. Don't let the ED control you, take charge of YOUR life!!!! Best wishes sweetie!"

Eat E replied: "Well actually, being anorexic is like taking a drug. There NEEDS to be awareness going around. Without education, look at what happened to the Chinese during the opium wars between them and the British. Chinese people didn't know that these drugs were bad for your health. They only knew that these drugs made you feel good and were put into some medicine that were supposedly good for you. I'm not saying that all anorexics are loser faggot faces. I'm just saying that you guys need to realize that anorexia seriously messes up your life. Maybe I don't quote quote "understand" your feelings but that's only because I've never been anorexic and I never will. You lose too much of life trying to be something that everyone shies away from. Anorexia will only take control of your life and ruin it if you don't become AWARE that it endangers your life. Not just that, but what purpose are you here then? Why are you still living? Just to not eat and feel sorry for yourself? NO! You need to take control of your life and get over this problem. And yes, it is a problem--emotionally, psychologically, and obviously, physically. If you don't remember me, here was my question that you answered. You were very rude, but realize that we're people that try to help you. So mind your manners. No one's going to sympathize with you if you keep destroying yourself and dragging down the people around you."

Fluoxetine/ Prozac -- Side Effects? I have been taking these for about 3 weeks and the worst side effects have worn off but I am left with mood swings, slurred speech and a constant headache and jaw ache from clenching my teeth the whole time. Will these side effects wear off eventually or should I think about stopping them because I'm not sure if the benefits outweigh the side effects? Apart from all that ^^^^^ i'm fine Concede. Thanks for asking :) x

Mark replied: "You might be med resistance"

concede replied: "Stupid question I know but you OK hun?"

Jebus replied: "Talk to your doctor"

Jupiter Ceasar Leprechaun II replied: "i would talk to dr asap and stop takin you may be allergic i have taken that med and its cousins on/off for years and the worst it does is upset my stomach although everyone is different the most effective medication i have used is mirtazapine"

Terry H replied: "i never heard of prozac causing you to clench ur teeth. I have been on it for years and the side effects wear off and the benifet is better."

princess leah replied: "hi i'm a gp but i also have suffered from depression due to crap marraige i have been on several ssri's and i also seemed to get the same side effect as you describe-jaw clenching and yawning, it drove me mad. I eventually changed to lofepramine but i'm still have a long way to go. Most of the side effects do wear off after the first couple of weeks, if it is intolerable i would suggest letting your dr know at your review appt and switch class of drug, there are several other options. ps it is a recognised side effect look in the small print of the leaflet i hope all works out well for you"

Kerry replied: "you need some new deodorant.................. :) xx"

Frou Frou replied: "im on it and i dont get those side efefcts but side effects do take a while to go away i had jaw clenching and grinding with effexor, ;-( the only problem io have with fluoxetine is my sleep patters are a bit all over the place i have to take them at night, to make sure i wake in the middle of the night so i can sleep again for me the benefits definately outweigh the sleep problems and occasinal dry throat i ge sorry i just blabbed on about that there, i just felt hey cool soemone else who takes fluoxetine ;-) take it for a few more weeks, and if they havent settled down, THEN you shoudlprobably think about coming off it and tryign another if its possible, you could take a lower dosage first to see it that changes anything"

kate M replied: "Lower libido then normal."

hawkeye replied: "if i were you i would give them another couple of weeks and if you still feel the same go back to your GP and maybe try something else. fluoxetine take about a month to get into your system and for your body to get used to them."

Is anyone on Prozac and feel a lot better since starting it? Any bad side effects? I am incredibly depressed. It's summer time and I used to love going to our beach but it's a chore now to even do that. All I want to do is sleep and watch tv even when it's beautiful outside like today. I really need to be on an anti-depressant but I've had bad luck with them in the past. I have been prescribed Prozac which I've taken in the past but I'm afraid to take it.

what are the long term side effects of prozac... should I be worried? I have been diagnosed with OCD and panic disorder.....along with major depression.. I was wondering if there are any bad long term side effects to prozac.... I know I need to be on the medication long term to function normally....possibly for life... my main concern is will it make me very overweight? and will it cause hearing loss or bad tinnitus? and anything else you think I should know

how long to side effects of Prozac last for? My mum is suffering from terrible nausea and dizziness. She has been taking Prozac for a few weeks now and is considering stopping them as the side effects are so bad. She is having 40mg a day

Should I expect the same side effects from Prozac as I had with Effexor XR? I tried Effexor XR 75mg last year and it was a very bad experience. I had many side effects: constipation, fatigue, dizziness, sleepy all day long and you can say I was not functional. Anyway, I will start Prozac 20mg tomorrow and I wonder if I will have the same side effects or not. I heard that Prozac is not the same drug class as Effexor XR.

Candy replied: "You won't have the same side effects but you will have side effects."

Adderall, Prozac, Risperdal side effects? Hi. I am currently taking Adderall Prozac and Risperdal can anyone tell me if the side effects to these are bad when put together?..i mean like..Are there more side-effects now that i am taking those 3 or will i have the basic side effects but worst? P.S. I just noticed now that i wrote worst and not worse..excuse me .

fitzy replied: "there are two interactions that should be noted with your medications: 1. risperdal and prozac : (Risperidone/Fluoxetine; Paroxetine) Fluoxetine and paroxetine may inhibit the metabolism of risperidone, causing elevated levels of risperidone and an increase in risperidone side effects. 2. adderall and prozac- amphetamines may affect serotonin release and/or reuptake, depending on their molecular structure. Ring substitution tends to increase amphetamine-induced release of endogenous serotonin. However, the effect on serotonin release may also be dose related and is more likely if the amphetamine is taken in greater than those approved and generally employed in treating Attention-deficit-hyperactivity-disorder, or if abused, especially over long periods of time. Concurrent use of amphetamines with agents that affect serotonin ( such as prozac) may increase the risk of serotonin syndrome. Symptoms of serotonin syndrome include irritability, altered consciousness, double vision, nausea, confusion, anxiety, hyperthermia, increased muscle tone, rigidity, myoclonus, rapid fluctuations in vital signs, and coma. Serotonin syndrome may result in death."

Ahorn replied: "I would recommend you to watch following DVD that is available online if you have fast internet. It's told by psychiatrists, psychologists and people who worked for pharmaceutical companies. It informs you - beside other things - about side effects that are not often being told by psychiatrists. It also suggests an alternative in the end. When you then make a decision to take antidepressants, you may be better prepared, educated and understand what's going on when you encounter some bad side effects. I would say that these information are actually vital. The link sounds a little scary - thats because many antidepressants have suicidal thoughts and impulses as side effects which you can also read inside the pack of some antidepressants. Watch trailer 1:55 min The whole DVD Fox News about pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly (Prozac, Zyprexa and others) 3:36 min"

Which has worse Side Effects ? Zoloft or ProZac? I mean which has the worse known side effects , like Zoloft making people Fat . I don't wanna look like Star Jones or Sally Struthers from South Park . And I don't wanna get Constipated from ProZac .

Fragile replied: "The side effects of any drug vary from person to person. Personally, I had no side effects on Zoloft, but it also didn't work for me. I never tried Prozac."

crzybabi replied: "I have only taken Zoloft, when I first started taking it I would have dry-mouth, dizziness, headaches when I woke up in the morning, weight gain, and when you don't take it you get a migraine. But antidepressants effect everybody differently."

barbieisthe1 replied: "Side effects for each of these drugs will be different for each individual... You can't say which is worse. Sorry, I know this isn't what you were looking for, but it's the best answer I can give you."

redrosefading replied: "All drugs have side effects listed, some people will develop some of the effects, others will not and some will get some of the side effects only at the beginning of therapy. Each person reacts differently. In some tests conducted, it was found that Prozac intensified the suicide thought in children and young adolescents. Prozac is used for severe depression and OCD. As with all mood altering drugs, monitoring by ur doctor is the safest policy."

Red_bear replied: "i just started zoloft and i feel nauseated all the time."

ARKdrummer replied: "Well side effects definitely differ for each person. Everyone's bodies react differently than everyone else's My experience with ProZac is that it made me an insomniac for the first couple nights and I had the shakes as well. Once my body got used to it there wasn't really any visible side effects that I noticed. Now ProZac also did nothing for me, if it did anything at all it made things worse in my head. As for Zoloft, I can't recall having any side effects, accept also the fact that it did nothing for me. So as you can see it works differently for everyone. For some ProZac or Zoloft has saved many people's lives, but my body just didn't react with the medication as it was supposed to. As for making you fat, I'm not sure if that is actually a long term factor. Just like aspirin makes you fat. But the only reason it does is because of water retention. Once you are off of it the weight goes away, since it is just excess water."
