I own a Toyota Prius, Is Toyota planning production with Johnson Controls and a lithium-ion battery? Will there be a possible replacement battery using lithium ion? Could we see after market lithium-ion technology?

What is the difference between a 96whr 12 cell lithium ion battery for a 5100 Dell Inspiron and a 65whr 8 cell I need to purchase a replacement battery for my 5100 Dell Inspiron and those are the two options available on the Dell website. Which would you get? The 96whr is $118 and the 65whr is $98.

mysticman44 replied: "The 96Whr has more power in it which means you will be able to run your laptop longer without having to charge. I would go with that one."

Lithium Ion Battery Good Option? I'm looking at buying a new digital camera soon, and am looking at the various options. Many seem to come equiped with the Lithium Ion battery. Is this a viable option? It seems that constantly having to charge a battery seems tedious, and keeps me constantly bound to a plug (when camping or in the wilderness, I couldn't use my camera after the charge runs out). How long would charge last in a camera with use with, or without flash? Also, would I be able to use regular alkaline batteries as a replacement?

Whats the mah of the lithium ion batteries from a laptop, HP DV2000? Whats the mah of the lithium ion batteries from a laptop, HP DV2000 ID on the battery is: LGCP218650 F3031007747 DJ301C2P2 The Battery pack can't hold a charge and I want to estimate the life of a set of new replacement batteries to install based on the mah of the new batteries. The numbers letters and letters I listed are the only identification on the batteries.

Jack S replied: "47wh which I beleive means Watt-hours. I have the same one, the battery wears down after a while. I recommend trying to get a new one through HP especially if you have a warranty, or get a new one off ebay, using the old one as a backup"

Why do wireless home phones use NICAD Batteries? Why not Lithium Ion or Nickel Metal Hydride? Lithium Ion Batteries and Nickel Metal Hydride Batteries do not Develop the MEMORY EFFECT that Nickel Cadmium Batteries DO, if not properly charged and discharged. The NICAD Batteries are pretty much useless once they Memorize you will only get maybe 5 Minutes Talk Time if you are lucky. They can be Deep Discharge Cycled but at considerable Cost of special Deep Charge Discharge electronic test equipment. It is cheaper to buy a new Phone than buy a replacement NICAD Battery Module

sd_ducksoup replied: "Your last sentence answers the question -- they sell more phones! Also, they are cheaper and most people change phones like they change shirts these days, so most don't notice the problem."

Lithium-ion battery (EN-EL5) ? I would like to know a little about the Lithium-ion battery (EN-EL5). Nikon P80 model uses this type of battery. Approx how many times, this battery can be charged? Customer reviews say that once charged , 200 snaps can be taken. But nobody mentioned how many times this battery can be recharged after which it would need replacement.

rajan l replied: "Lithium ion batteries are having good charge-discharge characteristics and can be charged any number of times. Please remeber the batteries of all make have to be charged and discharged to have a long life and should not be over or undercharged. If handled properly they will serve for a minimum period of five years. They should always be charges and should not be left idle. Size to power they are the best as on today."

Dusty replied: "Like any other rechargeable battery, it has both a shelf and a use life. This is measured in years though, but does depend on other variable factors, such as over charging and heavy usage. They really haven't been on the market long enough to get a better handle on that yet. The early Ni-Cads only lasted about 3 to 4 years, they now average 7 years. The Mi-Hz batteries seem to also have a long life usage."

why is mAhr number is different for replacement laptop batteries? I bought my Acer Extensa (2300) laptop recently. It is 3 years old. The battery (lithium ion) is supposed to last 2hrs when new. The battery I have lasts 1hr. It has an mAhr of 2200. Replacement batteries online that I've found for my battery part number are all mAhr 4400. Why is the mAhr of replacement batteries different to the mAhr of my battery, even though the part number is the same? Does it matter? Thanks very much

William V replied: "The rating of 4400 milliamp hours means it will last twice as long as a 2200 mah battery. No one can tell you how long a battery will last. Just like no one can tell you how far you can get on a tank of gas. You can get the rated time on the battery if you cut back on the power consumption--perhaps radically. Of course, a 3-year-old battery is probably on its last legs--mine don't last much longer than that. Sure, the larger battery should work and longer than the old assuming it fits in the same slot."

IBM Thinkpad Battery Replacement I just got a new battery for my iBM Thinkpad T60. What is the proper thing to do get it started on my IBM? Should I charge it fully and leave it charging? It is a lithium ion battery. What is also the proper usage for day to day use to maximize battery life.

what is the difference between Motorola snn5762 and sn5771 batteries? I bought a replacement battery for my Motorola W315 cell phone online. I ordered a SNN5762 but they substituted a SNN5771. Is there a big difference? It appears both are lithium ion batteries.

Britton X replied: "JohnBauder, I've had my Motorola W315 for 5 weeks and my battery doesn't last too."
