Is there a quick fix for sertraline withdrawal? I take sertraline (generic term for Zoloft) to treat depression. But I've been out of town lately, have mislaid my bottle somewhere in my travels, and can't get a refill for a few days. I'm now experiencing some side effects from suddenly going off medication, including light-headedness, tingling in an arm and leg, mild nausea, no appetite, hard to concentrate. Is there an over-the-counter, herbal, food or drink or something that can help me get througy this?

Jamie C replied: "i don't think there is. i was taking cymbalta (similar withdrawal symptoms as zoloft, and i also used to take zoloft), and the only way to get rid of those symptoms you describe was to take another pill. i eventually weaned myself off of the cymbalta, but it took weeks. i couldn't stand to be on a drug that would have that much "control" over me. maybe you could call your doctor to see if he can write you another prescription? or maybe he will know of some way to get rid of the withdrawal symptoms. oh, and i also read somewhere that some people will always have to be on ssri's after they start taking them. even if they try to gradually reduce the dose, the withdrawal symptoms never go away. that's pretty scary!"

Anxiety vs Sertraline and no sex drive? I have been diagnosed with anxiety and treated with Sertraline. Is there an alternative medication that will give me my libido back or am I stuck like this forever?

Sertraline + Alprazolam for SA? Hi, 2 weeks back I've consulted a doc reg. my Social anxiety problem. I (and My voice) start shivering in social situations, meetings, public places, and presentations. He first suggested me Daxid 0.25 + Restyl 0.25 (sertraline + alprazolam) for 2 weeks. Now, after two weeks, there is a very little improvement. Now he has increased sertraline dose to 50 mg per day for next three weeks. My questions: a) How effective is sertraline for treating SA? b) I am fear of getting addicted to these things. What if things work well and then I stop taking these? Will things be still better? c) How long can one take these sertraline tablets and whats the max dosage per day? Thanks.

I have a question about Sertraline...? I've been taking Sertraline for awhile now. A few years, actually. Lately, (like, in the last year or so) I find it hard to eat what I want. I mean, I can't eat more than a sandwich at a time without being really, really full. I get anxiety attacks because of that full feeling. It also takes a long time for me to get hungry again. I looked Sertraline up on Wikipedia, and it said: 'Small double-blind studies of sertraline for eating disorders, such as binge eating disorder, night eating syndrome and bulimia nervosa indicated its effectiveness.' I don't take Sertraline for that. I take it to ease my anxiety and to help me deal with my OCD. I've never had an eating disorder. I don't binge eat. It would be impossible for me to binge eat, anyway, even if I wanted to. I get full so easily. Do you think it's because Sertraline can also be used to treat people that binge eat? Is that why I can't eat much at a time?

I am considering applying for volunteer work in USA on a US Visa Waiver programme? I have type 1 diabetes which is currently being treated by insulin and am also on medication (sertraline) for depression. will these health issues affect my visa in any way?

Lori K replied: "I'm confused...if you use the Visa Waiver, you won't have a visa. If you do need a visa, you may have an issue. If, however, you have good insurance that will carry over into the US (so that your health care won't become an expense on the government), then you will probably be okay."
