As far as for weight gain, maybe it's from the constipation that clonidine can cause or from the edema (where fluid accumulates under your skin or elsewhere) that is a side effect."

does clonidine have side effects of nightmares? my 4 year old granddaughter takes clonidine for sleeping. she has started having nightmares about monsters and devils. can the drug be the cause. she also takes adderall also.

The side effects of clonidine for high blood pressure.? This drug makes me very tired and I take .1mg twice a day. My problem, is it makes me pee in my sleep. I don't realize until I get cold in my 'area' (I'm a 42 yr old woman) and wonder if this is a common side effect? I also take Milk Thistle, as my liver isn't doing so well. Which should I stop? The high blood pressure, or the liver cleanser? Thanks.

Does anyone know the side effects of a child stopping Clonidine suddenly? My son is severly autistic and he's been on Clonidine 0.2mg for a little over 2 yrs now. I called his doctor for his usual refill and she's saying she's not filling it because he is a month and a half late for his physical, i explained to the nurse his physical is WEDNESDAY, ya, 2 days away!!! He has a pill for tonight and i will only need 1 pill for tomorrow night until his physical wednesday morning. They say they dont think she'll give me the ONE friggin pill!! I thought you could have seizures if you stop this, am i wrong?? Can anyone tell me the side effects of just stopping this med like that?? Please, save any judgments or negative comments, we just lost my husband and his dad, so i am just a mom doing the best i can! I appreciate your help!

I offer my condolences. Why doesn't the doctor care about your family grief? But yeah, 1 night, he'll be fine. As long as he gets his pills ON WEDNESDAY. I take Clonidine 0.2mg for my Tourette's, & the WalMart pharmacy gives it to me in like a long blue, skinny carton with what they call (the blisters). The 1 where you have to pin your nail in the seal to break it to get the pill out."

can clonidine get you high? just wondering because the side effects make clonidine sound like a benzodiazepine.

Has anyone used the Clonidine Transdermal Patch for high blood pressure? Directions say doesn't work for 2-3 days...do you take oral Clonidine for that 2-3 days? Did you have any problems or adverse side effects?

c_schumacker replied: "Clonidine TD will enter your skin at a slow rate. It may not have full effectiveness for the initial 2-3 days but it will likely have some lesser effectiveness. I would not take oral Clonidine in the mean time. It is a very potent bp medication and the oral version is relatively short acting. As a result you are likely to cause your blood pressure to yo-yo if you take oral Clonidine. A few days of suboptimally controlled blood pressure is not usually a horrible thing. Keep track of it. Call your doctor (or go to the ED) if the top number exceeds 205 and if the bottom number exceeds 105. or if you are feeling symptoms associated with high blood pressure. Good luck."

Can clonidine cause loss of appetite? I was prescribed clonidine for my insomnia and have been taking it for the past 3 weeks and since then I just have no appetite. I literally have to remind myself to eat and force it down. I usually just eat dinner now because of this. Could clonidine be the cause? Ive looked up some of the side effects and found nothing. Maybe someone else who has experienced it or knows?
