Jason P replied: "Tetracycline does discolor the water. Turns it brown. As long as you're not overdosing your tank, it should be fine. Never had my water turn purple while using it though. How big is your tank? Did you leave the carbon in your filter in?"

Rohn replied: "Tetracycline is an antibiotic used in treating bacterial infections. Yes, the water does turn red or brownish color. That is matter of act stated on the leaflet that comes with the medication. Don't worry simply follow the instruction stated."

Aquarium Pharmaceuticals T.C. Tetracycline Powder, NEED HELP!!? my oscar fish has fin rot and eye cloud so i got Aquarium Pharmaceuticals T.C. Tetracycline Powder and when i put it in the tank the water changed yellow it says on the box that it is to do that. But now there is a bunch of yellow and white bubbles at the top of the water and its been like that for a 24hrs now my fish wont eat anymore too. is this suppose to happen?

Saucy replied: "That's normal. I do find that doing concentrated dips in smaller amounts of water with a 10-gallon dose for about a half hour is more effective, though. Are you SURE he has fin rot.. have you checked your ammonia levels? My guess is more of either high nitrates or ammonia. Oscars don't generally get fin rot, and the cloudy eyes suggest more of a water quality issue. So before you remedicate, you really need to get your water tested and do a water change as needed."

Peek says Isis slow down! replied: "Deathmetal.. I had issues with my Oscar.. I got on line with 'drsfostersmith.com' and do an on line chat with a rep vet or animal vet. they are awesome. You ask questions and they help over the phone. I have used them on a number of occassions. Mon thru Fri 8am to 5pm..give it a try. My Oscar died from a tumor. I had to get 'euthenasthia' in a bottle to put him in a deep coma and he wouldn't die so I had to wrap him in a towel and put him in the freezer and he just went to sleep.. Drsfostersmith thought it was swim bladder untill they saw his pictures.. It was a tumor and grew so fast. So sad. I had him for 8 yrs and he was such a comic. "

anyone ever tried making a cleanser or mask with a moisturizing facial cleanser & a capsule of tetracycline? by opening up a tetracycline capsule & mixing the powder medicine inside with two quarter size of moisturizing cleanser. what effect did it have on your skin & did it help with your acne? is it dangerous if one were to do so? are there any tetracycline cleansers out there?

How much Tetracycline can I put in my tank? I've ordered capsules (powder I suppose)? Just some idea of the max dose for the fish and the kind of doses I need for each of the common types disease/infection etc... mg per litre please, I don't need lectures or a deposition of your extensive knowledge. Some information about the differences between gram positive and gram negative would be a bonus though, especially on how effective a gram positive antibiotic would be for a gram negative bacteria and vica versa? If you can include all of the above im sure you will get the best answer. Thanks.

Gina W replied: "Seems like the going rate is 250mg per 10 gallons or 37.85 Liters Bacteria is categorized as either gram positive or gram negative. All I know is Tetracycline is a broad spectrum antibiotic that is effective on both gram- and gram+ diseases."

llriffel replied: "most meds are one capsual per 10 gallons read the directions once you get them"

how can i make homemade tetracycline medicated food? hello, my goldfish are suffering septicemia where their fins are experiencing red streaks and it has been even more severe in the past few days. where i currently live in the middle east they do not have anti-biotic laced food. what i do have though is a pack of 250mg tetracycline capsules, they are yellow powder when opened. is there any way i can make my own tetracycline laced fishfood for my goldfish? maybe using exisiting shrimp pellets (which they loove) or goldfish flakes??? thanks alot everyone

Lady E replied: "Medicated Food 1-tablet Tetracycline tablets from Mardel Laboratories ground into a fine powder. 1-tsp. of ground flake food (grind until it reaches powder form) 2-tablets of Nutrafin Spirulina Tablets (grind into a powder) 1/4-tsp. ground freeze dried bloodworms (approximately 1 tsp. before grinding) 1-envelope Knox Gelatine for Recipes (unflavored) 1-cup dechlorinated water Bring water to a boil and combine all ingredients in a container with a lid. Place in refrigerator for 1 hour. After one hour take food out and stir thoroughly. Place back in refrigerator to allow to set. Once food is set freeze half of it. The other half put on a clean well-rinsed plate and mash with fork. Feed fish twice a day what they can eat. (Caution: Food will sink to the bottom right away. If not eaten within 30 minutes take remaining food out"

jandy replied: "snuffles is treated with Cipro, usually a compounding pharmacy makes a liquid that you admin with a needleless syringe. It's fatal to rabbits as they can't clear their sinuses. I'm so sorry. I went through what you are doing and even though he didn't seem very ill, I'd had him 8 yrs, he was sick. so, I left him with the vet. Antibiotic had to be given 2-3 times daily to maintain blood levels. Go to houserabbitsociety.com here in Denver. they talk about rabbit illnesses I believe. I think it's contagious to other rabbits too. It's distressful to the rabbit and breathing. poor little guys. I have just one rabbit now, he's up off the ground, but, he's not fixed and I know he needs a fixed female, but I'm not up to more bunnies. I'm sorry about your bunny. The med can be expensive. have a talk with your vet , please, as it can get costly and then it's futile, but you tried. Are you sure this is the diagnosis?"
