Does taking Wellbutrin, Xanax and Ambien hurt you? I have been on Wellbutrin for over a year and Xanax. I haven't been able to go to sleep since. Now the doctor has me on Ambien to help me sleep and I still lay there for an hour or two after taking that. Does anyone know if the Wellbutrin is why I can't sleep? I started taking this when my son was deployed in Iraq for the second of two 2 year tours. I also lost my dad during his first tour. My Dad has been dead for about 3 years and my son has been home for over a year. Do I really even need this anymore? If I don't, how do I get off the drugs?
cattbarf replied: "My sympathies on your loss of your Dad. I hope you have pleasant memories of him. First, you should discuss this with your Doctor. Some anti-depressants dosage changes need to be handled slowly. How are you functioning with all that? Staying up an hour or two is not the end of the world. You may want to see another doctor if the current one is not giving you the answers you want (at worst, doctor 2 will confirm what doctor 1 says)."
Kat replied: "Wellbutrin is an anti-depressant and maybe you just need another one if it is bothering you there are several good ones. You need to ask your Dr. Xanax is very, very addicting I have been there and done that. It is prescribed mostly for anxiety, but the more you take the more you will think you need. Ambien is for sleep, however I did the same thing just laid there it didn't help me. If you want to go off all these things talk to your Dr. and tell him. Depending on how many Xanax you take in a day he may have to wean you off those. I'm not sure on Wellbutrin since it isn't a narcotic like Xanax. I would ask him for something else to help you sleep there are many different sleep aids. Stress and anxiety with all you have been through may be why you can't sleep. I have been through all your symtons. Now I take Effexor which is a good anti-depressant for me. I take a low dose of Xanax if I need it, I used to be on 6mg a day I had such a tolerance to it. And at night I take a Restoril (sleeping pill) if I need it. Please talk to your Dr. he can switch you off the other stuff. And I also see a Counselor now and it has helped tremendously. You might consider that with all this heartache you are having. I hope you feel better soon."

Many studies have proven that marijuana is beneficial in relieving symptoms associated with anxiety and depression and insomnia. I live in California and I use marijuana legally for my anxiety and migraines and it helps me a lot more than any prescription my doctor has ever prescribed and with much less side effects. Check out to see if you pre-qualify and to learn more"

I am on Wellbutrin XL for Depression. Can I stop taking them on the weekends so I can drink? The problem is that I like to drink socially on the weekends when I'm out with my friends. I have already drank twice on Wellbutrin. One night I had one shot and 3 mixed drinks. The other night I had 2 mixed drinks. I didn't have any problems. However, I read that your not supposed to drink on Wellbutrin XL. I was wondering if I could just not take the meds on the weekend and be safe or will it still have the potential to hurt me? Also what exactly will it do? Thanks
Thanks for you advice. Also I think it is very rude to call people idoits. And as for as drinking making me more depressed. That is to true! I never feel depressed when I drink. Thanks again.
I meant to say that it is so NOT true that I feel depressed when I drink.
Has anyone added Wellbutrin or Provigil now that they're on Lexapro? I'm on Lexapro. Great for depression, but it has hurt my motivation at work and sex drive. I've heard that adding Wellbutrin and/or Provigil can help. Has anyone tried either of these along with an antidepressant? How did they work?
classeng replied: "Wellbutrin is a mild antidepressant used to treat aldults with a certain type of depression call major depressive disorder. You should talk to your doctor about any other prescribed drugs that you are taking before taking wellbutrin. If you do look into taking this drug be sure to look at all the side effects that you may have by taking wellbutrin."
Mensch replied: "i just added Wellbutrin to prozac.
the only effect is vivid dreams now"
katskoop40 replied: "I am on Wellbutrin, Lexapro, and Lamictal. My sex drive was fine until I started the Lexapro. I'm not sure if adding Wellbutrin will help because Lexapro does of a high risk of decreasing the ability to have an orgasm. I talked to my Dr. and he told me I didn't need to take my Lexapro on the morning of sex. Yes, that means I have to plan it if I want to c**. And I can't want to have sex everyday so I'm not taking the Lexapro. Talk to your Dr. to see if this may be possible for you, maybe add Wellbutrin for back up. It may be embarrassing, but Dr.s really have heard it all. Good luck."
I started taking Wellbutrin two days ago, and I have had a horrible migraine ever since. When will it end? My head hurts so much I can hardly see straight. Anyone else experience this side effect with Wellbutrin? When can I expect it to go away?
sam m replied: "it probably wont"
Ntherlites replied: "You need to call your Doctor in morning. I think this is one of the side effects if I remember correctly."
Mom22 replied: "I had horrible side effects from Wellbutrin, I didn't get a headache I just felt like my head was full, it felt like it was going to explode. I also got really depressed and started thinking about suicide from because of the pills. As soon as I stopped taking them everything went away.
You should really see your doctor about it. The headache may not go away, they will probably have to take you off the Wellbutrin and try you on something else."

Can Wellbutrin cause severe leg muscle pain, will it go away with time? I started Wellbutrin @ 150mg 1 week ago, I was to take 300mg for this this week and then increase to 450mg. I took the 300mg last night and my leg pain is worse. I've not hurt it in any way that I know of. The calf muscle hurts so much I can't walk on it this morning. I don't want to quit the Wellbutrin and if this is the cause, will this side effect eventually go away?
wellbutrin Im taking in for the second day and it seems I have a headache and my eyes feel more distorted? My head hurts and My eyes feel more distorted.
Can Wellbutrin actually increase your sex drive? I'm depressed, started smoking again, and am gaining weight. The doc said Wellbutrin is the perfect fit and it helps with sex drive, which I have zero of. My question is, will Wellbutrin just keep me from getting worse or will it increase my sex drive? I've been with the same guy for 4 years and it's starting to hurt our relationship. I want to feel better in that aspect of my life!
why does my jaw and ears hurt? i started taking rozerem and wellbutrin a couple weeks ago and yesterday my jaw and ears started to ache. I quit smokeless tobacco a week ago. are these related to the pain i am in or am i just getting some type of infection? what should i do to relieve the pain?
jj replied: "see your dr , welbutrin has several side offects which can be very harmful , so see a dr , asap"
Juanitamarie replied: "When you have pain in your ears, don't mess around with it. It could be an infection. Go to the doctors, please. As for the pain, perhaps you can take an over the counter pain reliever.
Congrats on quitting smokless tobacco."
hugh jardon replied: "im not a doctor, but because of my condition ive done some research....and this could be a sign of tmj.....temporo mandiublar joint.
ive had this for some time and it can be quite serious.
your lower jaw is connected to your head at this joint near your ears. if you are grinding your teeth or if you jaw is out of alignment, it can create a wide array of problems. from tinitis, ringing in the ears, i have that.....to headaches, earaches, pain throughout the jaw and head......
its a really tricky thing to deal with because it differs with each patient, plus few healthplans cover this because there is no single cure that works for all patients.
i began with severe headaches, then i had this ringing in my ears,......the ringing has never stopped for the past 2 years..... ....do not wait for it to worsen. see a ENT, ear nose throat, specialist and get an examination pronto
also, get to a dentist and get a night guard. it is a plastic mouthpiece, just like football players use to protect their teeth, except the dentist will have to fit one for you. mine cost $200. i cannot stress how important the night guard is....dont wait."

neonlights1971 replied: "I'd ask the doctor that put you on them to start with.. I'd think that they wouldn't of had you take them while your pregnant in case it could hurt the unborn baby... Good luck!
You could also go to there website Wellbutrin.com and see if you are pregant see if they state in there or email them directly and ask them.."
Johneisha T replied: "u shouldnt take it it could cause u to hve early labor or defects on your baby"
chloesays replied: "I would not stop taking it until you know and speak with an OBGYN. If you feel that you may be pregnant or are trying to get pregnant it would probably be a good idea to speak with a doctor now and if it is unsafe then can possibly change your prescription or give you alternatives."
JustMeTiff replied: "As far as I know Wellbutrin is one of the safer of the anti depressant drugs... I would definately find out as soon as possible if you are pregnant though... and what you should do about the medication... but it's not safe to just stop this medicine abruptly... I was taking it and stopped it cold turkey and I had a lot of withdraw symptoms that really sucked... You should call your doctor as soon as possible... Best wishes "
dueinoctwith#3 replied: "I would let your Dr know that you might be pregnant and see what they advise. Most anti-depressents have been linked to birth defects."
kareinone36 replied: "You can call the pharmacy and talk to the pharmacist they can tell you for sure. Some medicines for depression are OK during pregnancy. If what you are taking is not alright give the doctor a call and they can change it to something that is safe."
I <3 my boys replied: "Do not stop taking any medicine (esp. antidepressants) until you talk to your doctor. You and your Dr. will have to talk about the pros and cons of being on the meds. I weaned myself off of Prozac but my anxiety was so bad I needed something to keep my stress levels down and to keep my life as normal as possible for my husband and 2 other children. Right now I am on Zoloft.
Keep taking your meds until you confirm your pregnancy. Usually these medicines are more harmful towards the end of pregnancy."
loveprotagonist replied: "Do not stop the medication until you speak with your doctor. If he/she recommends you stop, they'll have you gradually reduce the doses so you don't have withdrawals.
If you are pregnant, taking antidepressants isn't necessarily a bad thing (depends on the kind), but if you have moderate to severe depression, it's usually healthier to stay on the meds. Being depressed can do a lot of harm to a fetus, so depending on your situation, consult with your doc and use your best judgement."
soon2banurse replied: "You should not stop taking the med "cold turkey" that can harm you!! These drugs inner act with the chemicals in your brain! Could it harm the baby, I'm not to sure about that. I would call your Dr, and let him/her know you might be preg, and see what he/she wants you to do!! But I know for sure, depression drugs cannot be stopped like that, you have to ween yourself off of them!!"
