Can you crush Zantac 150 pills? I have to start taking Zantac 150 pills. I can not swallow pills though (don't know how). Does the coating around them make the pills unable to be crushed (will it not work the same if they are crushed I mean) or can I crush them? And do you know of a way for me to take the pills without tasting them?

LittleLulu replied: "I would say don't crush them but maybe take them with a spoonful of honey, jam or applesauce. Well maybe not a full spoon but enough to hide that taste."

rk s replied: "Zantac-150 has no special drug delivery mechanism,so you can crush it and consume it.crush it just before consuming since it is a hygroscopic salt,it will absorb moisture from air specially during rainy season if crushed and kept for some time. The purpose of sugar coating is to mask the unpleasant taste. So mix a little glucose powder to make it palatable. In case of enteric coated or slow release or sustain release or extended release tab.,crushing will spoil the release mechanism rendering the tab.either useless or less effective or make the tab. not reach the proper sight like some tabs.are suppose to release the drug in the stomach, some in the intestines and some in the colon."

What's a website that i can go to, to Identify these zantac pills that i have?? The say APO 025

TweetyBird replied: "If you already know what they are, why would you need to identify them?? Run a search for "pill identifier" and websites will come up. You also need to provide a shape and color of the tablets or capsules."

Zantac Bar Pills? Hi, I do have, stress related anxiety problems, coupled with depression sometimes. In the past, I tried to fight those symptoms with excessive alcohol consumption. Of course, this doesn't work, since drinking alcohol makes me just sick, sleepy, and, admittedly, lazy. Someone gave me those abovementioned pills, it turned my life around, I have no withdrawal symptoms after too much drinking anymore, etc., but I am not sure if they would be the cure of my problems on the longer run. Can anyone help me with similar experience? Thank you so much. Yes, sweetheart, the name of those pills is probably Xanax, and they relax my chest area tremendously, so I do not have to drink. If it helps ne for right now to get off my occasional heavy drinking, would sure do the job. Otherwise I must find a way to deal with too much stress in a different way.

candyrosepetals replied: "Hi dear, I think you mean XANAX not Zantac. Xanax is an anti-anxiety drug. Zantac is for heartburn. Xanax helps tremendously with anxiety to start out with, but I've found personally that it's effectiveness decreases rapidly after the first few months. Then you'll have to take more to feel the same (actually less) effects from it. Eventually, if you're on it long enough, you won't really feel anything from a higher than normal dose. It's a good short-term solution, but trust me you don't want to take it forever. Talk with your doctor about using it until you can find some other methods to help you manage your anxiety continuously. Good luck with it!"

Acid reflux pills such as Zantac, Ranitidine, Omeprezole; should they be taken every day as a course or just? when symptoms arise

Kate replied: "ask your doctor, but I think they should be taken for a few weeks, untill you stop feeling it. I have the same problem, and I found that those drugs make me feel sick and weezy. The best way is to avoid carbohydrates and milk for a week, and than all the acid would go away like magic."

J Dog replied: "It depends on you and your symptoms specifically, I take "Nexium" which is a brand name for Omeprazole or its equivalent. I have severe heartburn or acid reflux which Ranitidine could not manage. I absolutely must take this medicine or suffer from debilitating GIRD, or heartburn symptoms. I advise talking at length to your PCP about your situation and demand every available test."

Doctor J replied: "These drugs have many serious side effects. They should only be taken temporarily until your doctor determines the CAUSE of your acid reflux and implements an appropriate treatment plan to alleviate the CAUSE. If your doc is NOT working with you to find the cause of your reflux, you would be wise to find a better doctor. Best wishes and good luck."

michelle c replied: "It depends on the medication, because there are different subgroups of medications. Something like Tums is taken as needed. It works on the slight increase of stomach acid present at that time. Something like Nexium (esomeprazole) needs to be taken for a long time because of the physiology of the body. It takes a while to get high enough levels of the drug to "turn off" existing receptors and slow or stop the formation of new ones. And once you stop taking it the receptors begin to reactivate. That is why drugs like this are taken for a long period of time."

Can I take Zantac 150 an hour before lunch and then again an hour before dinner? Will Zantac 150 work if I took it about 3 hours before my first meal or does it have to be 1 hour before? Would 1 pill a day llast me through lunch and dinner?

Sar replied: "you do not have to take it twice unless instructed by your doctor. Best bet is to take it before your biggest meal - doesn't matter really if you take it before dinner or lunch"

DB2 replied: "one pill should last 24 hours"

Too much Zantac medicine? I've been taking those Zantac pills pretty much everyday for the past 2-3 weeks or so. I take about 1 pill every 24 hours or so. Can this prolonged use be dangerous?

Meagan replied: "You aren't supposed to use the MAX dose long term. I have heartburn daily. I've been taking the otc heartburn medications nearly every day for over two years and haven't had any effects. Although one of the side effects is a headache, and sometimes I get that. If you are worried, just ask your doc. Mine said it is fine (and way cheaper) than trying the prescriptions."

I am taking fish oil pills, 1000mg daily. 2 hours later I get horrible heartburn, is this the cause? I am also taking Bayer Heart Advantage pills with cholesterol lowering phytosterols. What ever those are. but they are supposed to help lower your cholesterol. My triglycerides are high. But i take them with supper like it says and 2 hours later I get the worst heartburn in the world and end up having to take zantac because it feels like the acid is coming up in to my throat and my chest is on fire. Does anyone else that takes fish oil pills have this problem?

Tommy replied: "Unless your drinking/eating tons of acidic foods its probably the pill. There are heartburn pills to reduce acid reflux(heartburn)"

MaZzIe replied: "its probably the coating on the tablet"

honestybrothers replied: "it sounds like it yes"

Staccye replied: "It's probably the cholesterol lowering pill. A lot of things will cause me to get heartburn but I've never gotten it from fish oil. I do take mine at bedtime though to cut down on burping."

larry replied: "Here is a long answer to a short but very important question. Here is what I found works for me and what I did. The short answer is that it is probably your fish oil capsule or the source of your fish oil. Not all fish oil is made the same. I use a no repeat fish oil. The long answer - please read all for the complete answer. Remove Fish Oil Repeat Problems People often complain about fish oil repeat in reviews and online forums. People have various suggestions about how to get rid of that fishy burp back. Suggestions include storing them in the freezer, taking the capsules before meals and taking it along with a calcium supplement. But, here you will learn about what causes fish oil repeat and how you can avoid it entirely. There are hundreds of different brands on the market. It seems like more companies form every day. Its not surprising when you realize that this is the best selling nutritional supplement on the market. Everybody wants a piece of the pie. Some companies guarantee that their supplements will not cause fishy burp back. How can they guarantee such a thing? The cause of fish oil repeat is highly oxidized oil. Oxidation or spoilage begins as soon as the catch is landed. If the catch is handled properly, very little oxidation occurs. If it is allowed to lie on the dock in the sun for hours at a time, lots of oxidation will occur and the supplement will cause fishy burp back. The amount of oxidation allowed by government agencies is very high. For example, the standards set by the US Food and Drug Administration are so high that they are basically irrelevant. The same is true of their standards for contaminants. Many people buy supplements thinking that they are evaluated by the FDA, but thats simply not true. The FDAs major concern is that companies do not make claims concerning the treatment of a disease. In order to prevent fishy burp back, manufacturers should have the level of oxidation tested before the oils are encapsulated. Once they are encapsulated, no further oxidation will occur, as long as a small amount of vitamin E is included. If the total level of oxidation is below 17 MEQ/KG, then there will be no fish oil repeat. If it is above that level, then the batch should be discarded, but most manufacturers would not consider such a thing. It would be like throwing away money. Some manufactures add lemon or other artificial flavorings to reduce burping, but what most people notice is that they still have the burps. It just tastes more like lemons than fish. An added flavoring or fragrance can only mask the taste and smell of oxidized or rancid oils. The biggest risk of taking rancid oils is due to the free radicals that they contain. Free radicals are damaging to the cells of the body. They contribute to aging and age-related diseases. Our goal should be to increase our antioxidant status, in order to fight free radical damage and reduce our risks of those diseases. In other words, fishy burp back is not life-threatening, but free radicals can be. If youre smart, you will only buy from a manufacture that guarantees to provide a burp-free product. They should also reveal the amount of oxidation present, as determined by an independent laboratory. You dont have to settle for fish oil repeat. It isnt really caused by the supplement. And now, see this website for more information on a fish oil that is guaranteed to have NO fishy burp back, no fish oil repeat. They can tell you much more than I can but the above is what I found interesting and their fish oil works for me. Hope this helps. Larry"
